THIS is how "spirtual sequel" or "spiritual successor" games should be done. This game is the old Descent blueprint brought to a modern engine, and then had the intensity cranked up to 11.

If you ever enjoyed Descent as a kid, this game is for you. If you ever enjoyed Forsaken as a kid, this game is for you. If you have never tried either of those games before, but you love fast paced FPS games and think you can wrap your head around 6 degrees of total freedom (up-down, left-right, pitch up-pitch down, yaw left-right, forward-backwards, and roll left-right, makes 6DOF) then this game is for you. Seriously, I can't recommend this game enough, and the VR support is so much fun too, though i understand why some people can't handle it. This gameplay style can be nauseating for some people even in 2D flat panel mode, I bet there's far fewer that can handle this in VR, but if you can I highly recommend you give it a shot. If you can do it with a HOTAS or dual-stick setup, even better.

THIS is how "Remastered" editions of games should be made! No extra BS, and no features no one asked for. It's the original game, just as you remember it. Obviously there are a ton of bugs and glitches that have been fixed, and the graphics are beefed up a bit, but overall it's exactly the game you know and love. I love that the "Remastered" graphics for the environment are 1:1 the same polygon count as the original, but with new high-res textures. It's really impressive just how much of a difference changing some textures can make for the overall quality of graphics. There are also new dynamic light sources (such as from the Soul Reaver itself) but these are kept to a minimum, so much so that I had to go out of my way to look for where they've been added.
The new models are fantastic as well! The devs did a great job of updating the quality of the models, while staying faithful to the original style. None of the new models feel out of place or excessive. Especially the creepy wall-crawling monsters in the Silenced Cathedral. In the original graphics I always thought they just looked like long and lanky vampires. In these new models, you can really see the original devs' intentions made clear, as the vampires have a much more insect-like style to the creatures. Good Stuff.

If you're a fan of the original LoK:Soul Reaver 1&2, then this remaster is a 10/10 must buy.
If you're not an existing fan, and you like adventure games, or light metroidvania style 3D action games, it's a solid 8/10 recommended.
If you are going in blind with no clue what you're in for, I would say it's a 7/10, wait for a sale, but I would still HIGHLY recommend you try it!

I've never enjoyed going on an adventure and getting closer with my "Boy" more than I have with GoW:R.

Also, Heimdall deserved what he got!

Did you like Dead Space back in 2008? Would you like to have the experience of playing it for the first time again? Then read no further, BUY THIS GAME. The best review I can give you is that if you ever played the original Dead Space back in 2008, this remake looks and plays like you remember Dead Space being. Back when it had incredible graphics for its day. The original version has aged and doesn't look as good as you remember it, but this remake looks like how you remember the original.
All of the gameplay changes feel like the RIGHT gameplay changes as well, and the game is better for it. If you like Action-Horror games like the Resident Evil remakes, or even just Resident Evil 4, then you will not be disappointed by Dead Space. Nor the original for that matter, if you don't mind the aged visuals.

I feel like Resident Evil 3 remake (R3make from here on) is like if you took the RE2 remake and mixed it with the action and pace of RE4 or RE5, you would get R3make. It's pretty good if you understand that and expect that. It's certainly not as good as the original Resident Evil 3 on PSX, but if you like silly action it's great.

The problem is that the original RE3 made Nemesis an ever-present threat that could appear at any time. RE3 also originally had moments where you could choose what action to take, and they would actually impact the story and what would happen next. None of that appears in the R3make. If you enjoyed the tension, art direction, and soundtrack of the RE2 remake, you will not be disappointed in this as long as you temper your expectations. You can tell that the creators of R3make looked at the original PSX RE3 and recognized that RE3 was a more action-oriented game than RE2 was, and thought that was what players would like to see expanded upon and enhanced in the RE3 Remake. While that was true of the PSX RE3, it certainly wasn't the thing that made people love that one. RE3 was always more of a side-story than a mainline game (despite the number) and so it was the changes to the core gameplay with the choices and the looming Nemesis threat that really made it stand out. Not the action. That said, R3make is still a fun mindless action game, and if you go into it with that expectation, you will not be disappointed.

Very fun, but a little bullet spongey, lacking in late game content. But definitely worth a good 50 to 60 hours, which is worth every bit the price of entry for that much entertainment.
