I brought this game way back when there was not much content, and decided to leave it be , however when i return back in 2021, i can safely say, i've enjoyed the new and full content this game now offers.

Northgard is a RTS game, where you control a clan of vikings who has to conquer the land of Northgard, with the main focus on taking territory, and manacing your resources and millitary. You start the game with 4 villagers and a town hall. Unlike most RTS, your town hall trains more villiagers automatically. So all you have to focus on, is to manage your income as the game goes on. you'll have to scout the region and take territory to expand your colony.

You gather food to conquer more territory and survive the winter. Your workers gather food normally when not set to any jobs, however some jobs can provide more food. (like farmers or fishermen.) Wood is needed for constructing buildings and for surviving winter aswell, you need to build woodcutter hut to gather wood. And Krowns is money, used to buy warriors, and perform various upgrades. which can be collected from treasures, or gathered from trading post, Docks or marketplace. and finally there's happiness which is a number showing how fast you train new workers and can keep spawning them, you need to keep happiness above 0, or else no more new willagers gets trained from your town hall.

all 4 rescource types are important, however Krowns is less important in early game.

Along with these, there are alot of other things to gather, such as fame, that allows you to rank your clan up and get neat bonuses when reached enough, and lore which is this game version of a tech tree, allowing you to get bonuses, such as gathering wood easier or more damage for your soldiers etc.

There are 4 multiple ways to win the match, These are as follows:
- Domination: simple enough, defeat all your enemies, by removing thier territory and taking over thier town hall.
- Fame victory: increase your fame by doing various things, have enough land, and build a structure called the Alter of Kings.
- Trade victory. Build a dock, then add a lighthouse on it, and start a great trade route, to earn commercial points.
- And Wisdom Victory: Gather lore and unlock Acenstral Knowledge before your oppenent does to win.

There are 6 different clans to play in the base game, those are:
- The Stag Clan, focusing on gathering fame, and is great for beginners.
- The Goat Clan, which is strong on getting a good economy.
- The Wolf Clan, great on attacking and getting military.
- the Raven Clan, very strong on gathering Krowns (money) and trade.
- the Bear Clan, a defensive clan, that's good at surviving winter and conquer territory.
- And finally the Boar Clan, which focuses on gathering lore.

Each clan has the strenghs and weaknesses. If you want more Clans you'll have to buy DLC, which can be a little "Pay 2 win", if some clans are stronger then others depending on patches, however the DLC clans are cheap, and the 6 base clans are strong in thier own right.

Overall Northgard is a pretty fun game, it's artstyle is very cartoonish, and has alot of cool viking unit designs. (i'm personally shocked that there isn't much fan art of this game) there's also a story mode, which is pretty decent but not bad. However be warned that one match can take you up to 1 -2 hours per game, and you'll have to get used to how to manage your rescources well, as this game takes skill on how to do the best approach.

There are however some downsides, first there's a few typos on some descriptions of buildings and units, (however very few) and there's a lack of information on certain Clan information and soldiers. I've also exprienced lag when using certain unit abilities, however they don't crash the game for what i've seen, and might get patched in the future pahaps.

I still strongly would recommend this game to any RTS fan, if you like Age of Empires 2 and Rise of Nations, this game is for you.
