Get out there, get cozy with nature and its inhabitants. A truly relaxing, cute and well executed game.

Like a very colorful sparkling cocktail without flavor

While the game offers a nice diverse soundtrack and extremely well done pixel art style, the core gameplay mechanics are what you could best describe as 'functional'. This usually isn't a problem, but sadly the game fails to deliver in all other areas including characters (development), dialogues and the overall story.

The pacing in Eastward doesn't help either. It starts you off with the right 'adventure vibes' but that starts to fall apart around chapter 4. Although you can't grasp the full story you can't shake off the feeling that you are playing some kind of filler content. I'm not saying that everything in the game amounts to nothing, but the sheer amount of characters that get introduced and dialogues that play out feel extremely bland. You will remember those, not for the unique situations but for how tedious it drags on and on and artificially stretches the time you have to spent to get through the game. Around chapter 6 one thought started to cross my mind quite often: When is this finally over?

The game takes inspirations from all the right places (90s anime, videogames like Earthbound/Mother 3) but it doesn't help Eastward have its own identity.

Took me around 33 hours finish. You can probably finish it in less if you march through the game and don't look for treasure chests, cooking all recipes or playing Earth Born (retro rpg minigame within the game which was quite fun!). I can't help but feel that the game could've achieved the same (if not more) if it was 20 hours shorter.

The main problem with Eastward is that it's offers a really engaging start only to slowly but surely replace that with most tasks being a hassle to do. It fails to show the player the motivations of many characters and the overall story - though told visually impressive at key moments - leaves a lot to be desired.

I was hooked by the demo and I'm happy to report that the first chapter of Viscerafest delivers.

This is a shooter, but...
you have to keep in mind that 'juggling your resources' - as stated in the description of the game - is no understatement. Caroline is a badass in the best possible way, but that will only get you so far when you try to walk into a room guns blazing, only to find yourself standing around with depleted ammo. You have to be aware of your surroundings, keep moving fast and make use of your quick-dash the best you can. Don't forget about your melee attack which not only helps punching faces in, but enemy leftovers to pieces for a yummy health pickup.

And the rest?
If you like 2d sprites (you do, don't lie!), clean and functional level design, a really well produced soundtrack* that gets you into the mood to scatter alien gibs, cheeky one-liners, overall great voice acting and are able to keep in mind what I wrote in the beginning, then Viscerafest might be for you!

*it's also great for driving, cleaning your household, working out and whatnot... what I want to say is: you should really buy it. Buy it here[markiemusic.bandcamp.com]!

The Supper is a neatly crafted and enjoyable point & click adventure. The game is not meant to confront you with mind boggling interaction but to tell its little story (which it does really well).

Because of it's straightforward nature it won't take you longer than around 20 minutes to complete.

There are two or three scenes where the animations of the main character doesn't quite look right - but that's nitpicking on a very unreasonable level.

tl;dr: Got some spare time? Love fantastical creatures and point & click games? Grab this. It's free, won't do you any harm. Liked the game? Support the dev easily by grabbing the PDF Art Book.

Looking for gorgeous pixel artstyle mixed with a tight game mechanic, great music and intriguing storytelling? Look no further - Katana Zero delievers exactly that.

The game oozes with style. Every scene and every stage feels carefully handcrafted and well thought out. It's simply an amazingly crafted game.

There may be some segments which people find (too) difficult, but it's incredibly rewarding when you can surpass the obstacles the game throws at you. Timing is crucial in some of the later stages, but it's far from impossible.

Definitely up there for game of the year 2019.

A well made, fun little game you can play through in about 15 minutes. Simple but cute told story, solid gameplay, decent graphics. Offers a few in-game achievements, difficulties and a challenge mode.

If you like beat 'em up side-scrollers you should take a look.

Final Fantasy VII was one of my first, if not THE experience with JRPG games. If you can overlook the outdated gameplay mechanics and graphics, then you're in for a story full of interesting characters, exciting battles, funny and moving moments. Be sure to invest a lot of your free time in this one. But you won't regret it!

Not convinced? It has chocobo racing and breeding, you know.
