TL;DR: Formerly great game made mediocre by developers ignoring the community, despite being a community centered game.

Despite claiming to listening to the community, Digital Extremes does not listen to them, given the way they have responded to community demands.

One weapon is being used more than all the other ones combined? The problem is clearly that one weapon is too strong, not that the other ones are too weak.

Challenging content? Just have one life and a loot pool of awards that become worthless after playing the "challenging" content for a few hours.

Game is too grindy? Just add more grind to make the grind slightly easier.

Want a new update? Delayed by a week for bug fixes, only for it to be riddled with bugs. The update is also finishable within a few hours of gameplay.

Tired of the draconian chat ban because a mod got butthurt over the word "trap"? Have fun with even more extreme punishments because Brand™️ says #BlackLivesMatter.

Melee mod that makes endgame content actually playable due to the ridiculously exponential scaling? Just change the formula from exponential to linear because that was a mistake on DE's behalf (that somehow went unnoticed for 4+ years), and keep the change despite massive community backlash.

Affiliate that has a different political opinion than your's? Axe them out of the program DogMan Dan, despite there being people who are far worse than him that are partners AGGP, only to nuke the current Affiliate program a few weeks later.

The game could be made much better than even it's peak days if DE decided to listen to the community instead of sniffing their own farts, thinking that their changes are far better what their own playerbase wants, and not completely cutting ties with AGGP.
