Moved by a fleeting charity (or perhaps mere curiosity), I granted the fellow passage in my carriage. During our brief association he regaled me, at no small length, with tales of his exploits alongside an Indian gentleman by the name of Deepak, adventures as improbable as they were unverified.

I deposited him some miles short of the border, whereupon he vanished from my life as abruptly as he had entered it. I thought the matter concluded—until, in a most unwelcome twist of fate, I stumbled upon what purports to be his Steam profile. +rep
