Hextones is a relaxing sci-fi themed puzzle game where you connect tiles of different colors and symbols to make combos and get points. Kinda like solitaire but endless. The pieces you get are randomly generated so you gotta place them carefully. I like to come back to this game once in a while to try and beat my score. It also has a nice sountrack and will run on pretty much any system. For the price it is definitely thumbs up from me 👍

Probably not the greatest game in the franchise but not too bad either. I'd say it is fairly priced for what you get. Ima make a list of pros and cons :

Pros

- It has a decent story compared to the last 2 NFS games, you and your crew try to win as many events as possible to take down " The House " . The House is basically a crew that has corrupted a big part of Fortune Valley and try to supress anyone who is a better competitor. Hence the name " Payback " . There is not only one protagonist, your whole crew are basically the main characters and you get to play as all 3 of them. I gotta admit that I was a little confused at first because each crew member have their own car collection but it becomes a comfort later because you can basically change a car on the spot before joining an event. You know, in case you want to use a specific car for specific types of events.

- Huge map with a lot of different locations and new collectibles. I'd say this is also my favorite NFS map as it has many parts inspired from underground, most wanted and hot pursuit.

- New modes such as the Speedcross events which are based on performing stunts and drifts to earn points and win. I also think this is the first NFS game ( correct me if I'm wrong ) that introduced proper off-road races which is really cool for variety. Imagine that you're playing WRC but you can tune your car and take many shortcuts. " Outrun " races made a comeback, I think they were last seen in underground 2. So it was a good idea to add them again.

- There are no cops during free roam which in my opinion is a huge plus if you just wanna drive and do some activities without being annoyed.

Cons

- I like that cars have different versions for each type of event. For example if you buy a skyline for drag racing it will automatically come with thicker wheels and will drive like a drag car. The issue is that if you want a skyline for regular races, you gotta buy the car again but this time from the " racing dealership " which is kinda tedious and costly. Luckily you get enough cash to buy cars in this game but the fact that the game doesn't explain that pissed me off. I think it would be better if you could just change the car's setup according to the event. On the bright side, most cars in the game have versions for most of the event types so if you wanna use one car for all you can buy it multiple times and use the same visual customizations.

- The performance upgrades are RNG cards and make the upgrading system unnecessarily complicated. On top of that there are microtransactions for cards which is pretty much the lowest I've seen in an NFS game.

- Though the map design is great, most of the events don't really do it any justice as they aren't utilizing it properly. Especially for those who mostly wanna play the story events, you will often do the same race routes and will never/ rarely see any of the many areas of the map. You could however explore for collectibles, but they are so well hidden that you have to buy the " key map shortcuts " DLC. A greedy practice in my opinion.

- The graphics are fine for the most part, except that it lacks antialiasing. I ran it at 5k and still got jagged edges.

- Paid DLC cars is a no-go and I am glad that I got them for free. Luckily I found the DLC cars to be useless.

I dislike the fact that you gotta kill bugs, It is what made me not wanna buy the game for a while.

That being said : from a gamer's point of view, this is a fun co-op experience. The teamplay is impressive even when you are playing with random people on public lobbies and the community is nice in general. I think that the envinronments were inspired by NMS's caves, I could be wrong though. I like the procedural generated levels and random events/ collectibles that can be found during missions. Despite the minimalistic low-poly graphics the textures and models look fine. The voice over is hilarious and some phrases have become memes.

There's a decent amount of content and a lot of replay value, the DLC is purely cosmetic and that's how it should be for every game in my opinion.

PS. Guy at mission control, he really has a cozy job.

PS. 2 Rock and Stone ⛏

Unique, atmospheric and addictive.

Story

You died and then spawned in another dimension. The goal is to find and save all the missing villagers to rebuild the village and figure out how to save Avalon from the curse of Wyrdness. During the journey there are many random encounters that either help or harm you. Every character has a little background and story to tell, most of the dialogues have a deep meaning and the voice acting is top notch considering this is an indie game. I also love the dark fantasy/ gothic atmosphere, it is definitely one of the things that pulled me into the game and kept me playing. The soundtrack contributes to that a lot as well.

Gameplay

Though Tainted Grail is a card game, it actually plays like a typical turn based RPG game. You can move in an open world area and choose which fights to do, in the order you want to do them. Skipping fights is also an option. The character can level up, use consumables and his stats have an impact in fights. Attacks, buffs and summons are played by using cards. I like the variety of classes and their designs, there is also a bit of character customization. As someone who isn't that good at card games, I'd say that the RNG is perfectly balanced and well thought out. Most tough fights are a fair challenge as long as you figure out some of the hidden gameplay mechanics. The procedural generated levels and events make it a bit immersive too.

Back when we bought this crap, we thought they would keep their promise and only release cosmetics as DLC. Turned out that they got greedy and locked new weapons (basically a game update) as paid DLC. I regret buying the skin packs to support these idiots.

Noble was my favorite skin to use but buying this was a huge mistake as it made the developers greedy. Never again.

The skins are alright, bought them because " it is just skins " and to support the devs. Until they released paid weapons. They got a ♥♥♥♥ ton of good suggestions from the community which they rejected on their forums with troll accounts so they can sell new guns.

The workshop for this game is a blessing as it gives you access to tons of content for free. Whether you want to customize how the game looks or wanna try out a new campaign it is all possible with just a couple of clicks. For under 10/€ nothing beats this. It is easily the king of co-op FPS horde shooters.

Oh yeah I forgot to talk about the game. L4D2 introduces a new campaign and 4 new characters ( don't worry, the ones from the previous one survived ) as well as a bigger variety in weapons, something that was lacking in the first game. The graphics have been massively improved since it runs on a newer version of the source engine. I like how realistic the facial expressions of the characters look like. There are also a couple of new multiplayer modes and the whole campaign of the 1st game was ported here as well. So you basically get 2 games for the price of 1 indie game.
