As someone who started with P3R, the game isn't as good compared to that (OBVIOUSLY) but it's still good in its own way.

Did Atlus do a good job at porting this?

No.

The characters look icky, the backgrounds and UI elements obviously look like they've been AI up-scaled. They have to have high-quality versions of that stuff somewhere right??

Graphically speaking, it's fine. It may be jarring at first since everything kinda looks bad, but you'll get used to it as you continue to play. The controls work fine, the Tartarus sections look fine. It's literally just P3P but higher quality.

Is it worth the price?

As someone who bought P3P on the PSP for $116, yes it is. Granted this game does go on same a lot so you might be able to get it cheaper. The only reason why I would suggest you play this game is for the FeMC route because there's enough stuff different to warrant playing it. Also Atlus did Kotone dirty in P3R

I would suggest getting Reloaded II to mod the game, because there are plenty of mods to make the game more enjoyable. The cut scene restored mod adds the P3 FES cut-scene to the game, granted you MIGHT not get some of the achievements because it messes up the placements. There's also a really good mod that recreated ALL cut scenes from P3 FES for Kotone, an AMAZING mod so if you play through Kotone Routes I 100% recommend it.

There's a bunch of other QOL mods you should get before playing because they just made the game more fun.

But yea, with mods it's definitly a 8.5/10.
