This is a super addicting game with a good balance of roguelike and base building elements, though it isn't the best in either of those aspects alone. Combat feels good but simple, and is maybe a bit too forgiving. Enemy attacks are well choreographed and bullet patterns aren't too complicated, and your dodge roll is extremely generous with its cooldown and iframes. The cult-building aspect is fun but becomes nearly unmanageable once you get to about twenty or so followers. At that point, having any more followers becomes a burden. Don't get me wrong, the cult building aspect is very enjoyable and charming, but it grows old very fast. There's only a set amount of randomized quests that they offer, and by the time you hit max level you'll have seen it all. High level followers are useful for sending on missions or for turning into demons for your crusades, but that's about it - once you hit max level you'll have almost no need for them. Overall though, this game is extremely cute and hard to put down. It may not offer much in the way of replayability, but it makes up for it with a solid, well-rounded experience. Strongly recommend.

Some tips for players looking at doing no-hit boss runs for 100%:

- Always take the golden fleece. The fleece's scaling damage is crucial for being able to merc the bosses. The less time you give them to hit you, the easier it is to not get hit - especially since it can allow you to skip most of the boss's final attack patterns. The fleece's only downsides occur when you get hit, so there's no reason to not take it for a no-hit run. I recommend getting at least a 150% damage modifier before entering boss fights to ensure a smooth fight.

- Skip the dagger and claws, prioritize heavy-hitting items like the axe and warhammer. The axe is by far the best weapon in the game in terms of attack speed and damage balance. If you're able to find a godly axe or godly warhammer on your run these will do absolutely insane damage when paired with the golden fleece.

-Take a demon follower with the "collect fervour" attribute and pair it with the divine guardian curse. Divine guardian will give you two seconds of invincibility while also allowing you to attack and is absolutely busted when combined with fervour regenerating tarot cards and a fervor collecting demon. Four uses usually gives you enough time to be able to melt the boss given you're taking full advantage of the golden fleece.

Easy game to learn, hard to master. A lot of people describe this game as "Left 4 Dead 2 with swords" but it goes so much deeper than that. You have to learn class strengths and weaknesses, attack patterns, weapon effectiveness, and damage mitigation. The difficulty scales quite a bit and can be unrelenting at times, so teamwork and coordination is vital if you want to play the higher difficulties effectively. Even after playing this game for 100 hours I'm still learning how to be as efficient as possible. This game really captured something I'd been missing from Left 4 Dead, and I strongly recommend it to anyone - even someone like me who had zero interest in Warhammer before playing this.

Spyro is one of my earliest experiences with video games. I played the original trilogy when I was just five years old and I was ecstatic when I heard about the remaster. It was a blast going back through all the levels I remembered so fondly as a kid, seeing all of the new aesthetics blend with old elements. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves collectathons or 3D platforming games. I am incredibly biased though, and much of my enjoyment came from said nostalgia. I would suggest playing through the original trilogy first if that's an option, but it's not a huge deal. The remaster stays pretty true to the original in most aspects, but it isn't without its faults.

While keyboard/mouse control feels solid, the incredibly low FOV can be disorienting and uncomfortable to get used to. The camera is easier to control in the remaster than the original trilogy, but you'll still find yourself face-first in Spryo's ass for the majority of the game. Additionally, the color palettes in the remastered trilogy are brighter and far more saturated, which can cause a bit of an eyesore and ruin the feel of some levels (I'm looking at you, mystic marsh).

The gameplay is pretty solid, but most challenges in the game are really easy to beat and you'll find yourself progressing at lightning speed. Many people say that the remaster feels easier than the original games, and I felt this way too. I can't tell whether or not this is because of gameplay changes or the fact I'm no longer a child. Either way, most of the game is a relative cakewalk with a few challenging side missions thrown in. If you don't plan on 100/120% completing these games, they won't last you very long at all.

Overall, it's a solid remaster with a lot of charm - but it certainly isn't for everyone. You can tell the developers put a lot of passion into these games, and it's amazing to see these worlds reimagined. The remaster is a tad expensive for the amount of play time it offers. For me, this game was worth purchasing at full price, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price unless you've played through and enjoyed the originals. If you're able to, cop this game during a steam sale or in a Humble Bundle pack.
