After playing a few runs a week here and there i've finally 100% finished the game, Relatively Simple but compelling story, fast paced boomer shooter combat, quick short levels and a pretty decent variety in viable builds with some interesting risk/reward trade offs in some upgrades. I had a great time and will definitely return for some more runs just because it's fun, and isn't that all that really matters?

EDIT AFTER 8 WEEKS:
More lootboxes with slightly better but still abysmal odds, i was planning to spend money to support the studio in the first month. Now, I don't even want to return to see what the next scenario update will be. I much rather would have spent an upfront price and NOT have to deal with lootbox ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, because the gameplay IS good. This will be my last edit untill they stop with the lootbox ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. which, let's be honest, is never going to happen.

EDIT AFTER 6 WEEKS:
After the first scenarios have ended they have now added a ~200 dollar bike skin in the form of a Lootbox. The odds of getting the good looking skins is 0.4% and there's 5 of them which means 5 times 0.4% giving you practically no chance to get what you want. To counter this they give a guaranteed item every 30 boxes opened with the headline item being given out as the last in the bunch making it "valued" at just over 200 dollars. It's gambling mechanics like this that turn me off massively. No matter how good your gameplay is, and don't get me wrong the gameplay IS good, I will not support a game that tries to psychologically trick it's players into gambling with objectively better looking items that can't be obtained for reasonable purchase prices and are only targeted towards whales or gambling addicts.

Review after 1 week:

Ok, so day 1 was bad, really bad. Being told by community managers to go play a different game for a month is about the worst response to a problem I've heard in recent gaming history.

BUT, to the developers credit, they turned things around, fixed the problem very quickly and the game has been working really well for me ever since. Now I will add a caviat there and say that my PC is latest tech as of about a year ago. My girlfriend's laptop which runs on a RTX 2080 mobile, struggles to run the game and my own old PC which has a RTX 1060 causes the game to crash about once every 2 hours. It runs on low settings but still crashes regularly.

(Context, i play PvE only)
Gameplaywise the game feels quite similar to Fallout 76 with some extras and some quality of life upgrades. If survival games in the vein of Fallout 76 where the main gameplay loop is "Explore, Loot, Build" are something you're into i can happily recommend picking up the game, it is free afterall.

Monetisation is mostly cosmetic as far as I have seen so far. There is indeed an armour skin that costs 30 dollars to obtain, as well as a Building skin that costs 45 to 50 dollars depending on how you obtain the in game cash shop currency. These are obviously tests to see IF people will buy them, I will not. And I ask that you PLEASE don't either as this will set a precedent for later skins and cosmetics to possibly become even more expensive.

TLDR; Day 1, ABYSMAL. Quickly fixed, good job! Game has issues running on older systems. Gameplay is basic but fun. Cash shop is WAY too expensive, PLEASE don't buy overpriced items, or I WILL make fun of your poor life choices.

Got the game as part of a humble bundle and i'm a big fan of the Arkham games.
With that context out of the way i was hesitant to play at first because of what i'd heard reviewers say about the game. let me just tell you after 6 hours my first impressions are that everything that's being said is all true.
Started playing as Nightwing because imo he has the coolest suit. Switched over to red hood quite quickly after i saw that most of nightwing's "abilities" were just basic stat increases which imo is boring. Figgured i'd try the guy with guns for a switch up in playstyle. Boy was i wrong. His guns do bassically no damage at all even headshots require you to dump entire mags into people before they go down. Very dissapointing.
Dispite the dissapointment i decided to keep playing and give the game a fair shake for a few more hours and unlock the Knighthood abilities. To my utter bafflement Knighthood just turned Red hood into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Wizzard ???? His late 90's inspired "double jump" was amusing to use and certainly more fun than the slow as ♥♥♥♥ Batcycle but besides that the damage still felt incredibly low, enemies are far and few between and they are a requirement to even get the crimes to show up which are arguably the only decent part of the game.

oh and i didn't even bother with the main story, when i tried that the game crashed twice in a row.

After 4 years the game still crashes so often, on average once an hour, that i'm losing about half of my playtime in survival mode (recently 80 hours played only ~40 hours of gametime progress) it's a good game don't get me wrong but the frequent crashing even after 4 years of "support" I can recommend playing the game, IF you can do so without the constant crashing, but I can't recommend you actually spend money on it.
PS. Look into mods to make the game playable, I didn't and constant crashing, loss of progress and a lot of frustration is the end result.
TL;DR DON'T PAY FOR BROKEN GAMES.

I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea but if you're into figuring out efficient layouts and production chains i can highly recommend My Colony. Make an account and look into joining one of the commonwealths there's some great people around and most are willing to help if you're looking for info or some starter resources

Amazing game, Couldn't recommend the Remaster due to frequent crashes. These appear to have been fixed with the removal of the 2K launcher.
