This game is the most unappealing, cheaply made, copy-pasted piece of software I have ever played. It's so unoriginal you can't even argue they just blatantly stole a bunch of mechanics (and some assets even) from existing games and mashed them together.

The "narrative" (if it can even be called that) is a generic cliché of "humanity has fallen and suddenly we got cool powers and this very evil guy wants them", throwing at you lore and terms as if you were supposed to know them all. Speaking of, this game suffers heavily of throwing everything at you syndrome, barely introducing you to how the game actually works just to show you how cool their hub is and how many people are there in the game.

As for the enemy design it's also very unoriginal and repetitive, there's really nothing special about them and the first "boss" you fight after the intro on a dungeon is actually so boring I legitimately fell asleep midway.

In regards to the store, I can't say much as the game was so unappealing for me I didn't even bother checking it, so maybe read other reviews for that.

There's some people out there that will definetely like this kind of slop, but it really isn't for me.

I genuinely had fun with this game. I keep seeing how people dislike this game and I don't get why, I played the series in tandem on co-op and even if it may not be up to the level of 2 and 3 (which is a tall order in itself), is still a solid and great game, with many improvements over the previous title.

On the story side, while it does feel a bit a part and separated from the first 3 games, I think that's kind of the point since it's set 4 years after the events of Halo 3. I think it is supposed to feel a different as everything has changed. I only wish the Covenant got a bit more of depth as to what have they been doing during the 4 years (and what happened to the Arbiter???).

Lastly, I think the OST is the weakest part of this game. While on the previous titles I instantly noticed whenever music started playing, on this game it kind of felt into the background, only noticing one or two tracks that actually felt great.

Overall I think it is a solid and fun game, just play it really, especially if you got someone to do so with.

This is certainly one of the games I've ever played. Don't spoil yourself, just dive in.

THE PEOPLE WON!!!
We did it! We've shown everyone on the gaming community that we do have power over the greedy publishers, and that we can actually make a change!

This is most welcome news, as now everyone will be able to access the game again. Hopefully this is followed by Sony reinstating the game on the countries it got delisted. We really defended freedom and democracy on this one lads.

With that said, let this be a cautionary tale. AH helped us a ton too, but not all developers are the same unfortunately. Remember that us consumers have the last word, and ultimately they depend on us, so never let them control you again.

A really fun game that makes co-op interesting again with its randomness. I really like the game director thing going on where all of us are fighting for certain objectives on the war, making it feel like you're actually playing for something along with your personal progress.

Only nitpicks I would point out so far is that the amount of samples you can get per mission is a bit low, and even though they fixed most of the issues, there's still a few connectivity issues and some rare crashes. Still, it's nice to see they're working on fixing all of that at a pretty fast pace.

I hope in the future they add more map variety (and not recolors of landscapes, but actually different environments), but for now it's pretty good.

I haven't had so much fun in a game about killing other players in several years

I wanted to hold off from writing a bad review and give this game a chance, as I knew this game has a lot of potential and can become something better than it already is. It was really unfortunate that it had such a bad start (don't get me wrong, all blame and shame goes to Farm 51 for not preparing their servers properly even after so much time), but now that it's playable I can give it a proper review.

In general, the game has a lot of content, only missing some more maps. There's plenty of weapons, customization for both these and character, and a fair share of vehicles.
The gunplay feels great, leaning towards the "realistic" side but keeping it not too hard to master. TTK can be from 1 shot to a few bullets, as there's different armor options.
The gearing system goes by weight, so the heavier your weapons and armor, the slower you'll move so different builds will have different playstyles.
The vehicles are not too good, not too bad. Don't expect totally fluid driving and overall physics, but for tanks/LAVs which are the most important it works well enough (for a reference, they feel pretty close to MW19s physics).
On the visual and graphics side the game excels, having pretty lightning and extremely detailed models. The UI is simple and informative, and again, if you've played MW19 the menus are pretty similar, though I feel the gunsmith and customization menus are a bit confusing to navigate through.
As for the few maps we have, they're surprisingly really well made and balanced, I've rarely had any issues with spawn points and spawnkilling, but it is worth mentioning that the respawning system can be a bit annoying sometimes and "overprotective", as in not letting you spawn in objectives under attack and suppression on allies feeling too long sometimes.
Finally, for performance the game is surprisingly really well optimized. I have two computers for reference, one with a 3070 and a Ryzen 7 5800X and the other with a GTX960 and an A10-7850K (both stock clocks). On my beef PC it holds 144fps at max settings nicely (and could go even higher, I limit it to the screens Hz) and on my low-end it holds 60fps on all lows with a few drops when there's air strikes and many explosions, so definitely playable.

I got this game as a gift back in 2021, played it sparsely once in a while and the last time was around march this year. After that I waited for the open beta to start since all characters would get wiped and unfortunately it had the worst start. On the bright side people have picked up on the news of servers working again, and I could find 2 matches instantly at 4AM so there's definitely an active player base.
I'll advise caution, as Farm 51 aren't precisely known for making the best decisions, but now that the game's free I'd say it's worth a shot, specially since games of the same type such as battlefield have flopped even harder..

Has just the right amount of realism and arcadiness, and you can adjust that balance to your own liking. At first I always kind of thought this game wouldn't be that much of a deal, but after trying it from a friend who gifted it to me I find myself playing everyday.
Regarding DLCs, it seems scary how many are there and their price tags, but they're actually really well made. Consider getting some of them each time there's an steam sale!
