The House in Fata Morgana is one of the most gorgeous visual novels I've ever played. The art and music create such a compelling atmosphere that draws you in completely. It will consume you! The story is so beautifully layered. You wake up in a cursed mansion and cannot remember who you are. A maid shows you the mansion's memories in an attempt to help you remember yourself. What starts off as a series of gothic horror stories told by this maid becomes a huge twist when you remember everything and then an even bigger twist when you uncover the secrets behind the mansion's curse. The story also deals with some sensitive societal issues such as racism, xenophobia, and one other that I cannot mention because it is a huge spoiler. Horror has always been a wonderful medium for addressing themes such as these and Fata Morgana is no exception. When I finished the story I was sobbing because it was just so heartbreakingly beautiful. It truly is a masterpiece.
