Let me start by saying I love this game. I am leaving a negative review BECAUSE I love it!

It is clear to me that WB Games had an unreasonable deadline to push this game out. From the rough around the edges UI, to the higher focus on monetization, and to features missing that were ALREADY in the beta. I do think Player First Games listens to us and respects the community, there are examples of this. From how active they are on different spaces like Twitter and Reddit listening to concerns, and all the way to supporting it's tournament scene. To even giving every single player who even touched the open beta a free one. (I don't even want to imagine how hard that was of an idea to pitch to higher ups)

This is a game that went from Open Beta to essentially a new open beta with better online. There is some great fun and times to be had in it for sure but all the things people are saying NEED to be addressed (especially the speed because it is slowww) I think the foundation is there, the passion is there, but that lurking feeling of WB screwing this game over is sadly there as well. I wish this game nothing but the best and hope at least of the majority of problems are fixed sooner rather then later. Fix all the issues with the gameplay, streamline the monetization where it doesn't feel like it's crammed down your throat but instead has a nicer balance (akin to Fortnite) and this game would be truly something special. It's rare to get a second chance. I just hope they can address it all before it's too late.

I will very happily update this to positive should most if not all of these major concerns be addressed.

To put it simply, it's peak.

Fantastic game! Rivals has great movement and a diverse cast don't think this is "Just a Smash Bros clone" Rivals is so so much more. While it is inspired by Smash (especially Melee which isn't a bad thing) Rivals is very much it's own thing and definitely worth a shot. The movement is quick and snappy, the devs pour a lot into making getting into the competitive scene of it worth while, and it offers tutorials that teach the player everything in such a clean way to understand the game's fundamentals. Even for casual play this game is still easy to pick up and play and custom characters are a blast! This game is more then worth the 15 bucks and when it's on sale (usually around $7.49 in USD) it's an absolute steal!

One of the best games I've ever played! Awesome soundtrack, awesome controls, and the options you get for both music and graphics are just wonderful! The story matches up with the gameplay perfectly, everything is top notch. If it seems like something you'd like then get it, you won't be sorry you did.
