I'm strongly against gacha monetization (and the FOMO gambling culture that comes from it). I think it's the worst invention in the video game history.

Sword of Convallaria isn't devoid of gacha features. In fact, they are everywhere: constant visual nudges, imposed play limit (stamina), complex currency exchange system, and many other blatant and nuanced dark patterns.

All that being said, there is a fantastic game wrapped underneath the gacha system, and if you are able to look past the negative aspects and have good self-control, there is a great deal of fun to be had here. There is also an elaborate single-player campaign mode (that's unfortunately time-gated) with a separate, non-gacha-based system, so even if you don't care for the gacha mechanics, you could still find a lot of enjoyment out of the campaign without having to pay for anything.

I would've liked to purchase the game in its entirety even if it came with a high price tag... But, in an era where there's a dearth of well-produced TRPG titles, I will take what I can.
