Let me start off this review by saying I absolutely love the IP of Synduality. The show if good, and the world and concept is just awesome. Drifters going around fighting off Ender, collecting AO crystals to help power this post-apocalyptic world, forming teams of Drifters to compete against one another. Just all around a really cool idea and series. If you are coming to this game because of the series, you are gonna be disappointed, if you are coming to this game because you love mechs and extraction shooters, then you are going to have an okay time. This game could be way better.

Now let's talk about the game.. Early access was great a fun, we all thought oh these normal features other extraction shooters were gonna get added later, because they are staples to the genre, well we were all in for a surprise when the game finally launched...

This game could be amazing, it could be a contender for other popular extraction shooters, but sadly that is no the state this game has been released in. There is no team based match making, you can only select from a limited number of maps at a time, progression is very long and steep before you feel like you can be really impactful on each of your sorties, and the devs make the game feel like you need to invest a lot just to get to rare or better equipment.

Here is a basic understanding of the game, you are a Drifter that either works for the Association or the Black Market. Both have pretty much similar quest and progression, expect ones gets live ammo weapons and the other energy based weapons. Each drifter gets their own hanger which has various station to upgrade and customize like other extraction shooters, but for the most part only a handful actually do anything. Which is a bummer because some of the flavor text makes it sound like it improves your Magus companion, and other features of the game, but only the Pit and Crafting area really do anything for you. This game is good for giving you time and credit sinks. Once you get over the fact that you need to get large quantities of materials to even upgrade a single station, you then realize you need even more than that to actually craft your Cradles (Mechs) and weapons. Now I have been grinding MMOs and other grindy games for years, and even I find it an immense amount of effort to build something that I could easily lose the second I hope into a match, but that is also why we love extraction shooters, high risk high reward, however for this game it is not balanced at all. Combat is fun for the most part, they definitely could have taken some liberties from the series, but sadly it is just straight up gun play with some Magus having sorta useful abilities, but not as diverse as the series. The meat and potatoes of this game, is going on sorties to collect resources, not really focusing too much on AO crystals, because the spawn rate of crystals that actually make you money are slim, so your main goal is collect resources to upgrade your hanger and build your weapons and cradles. Kinda falls off from the point of the series this game is based on.

Honestly, I would love to leave this game a positive review, but morally I can't, even though I enjoy it, I know it isn't good at the end of the day. Instead I will list the features and quality of life changes I would love to see for me to ever change this.

1. Team based match making, let us go out on sorties in teams of two or three, simple and easy to do since they already have a team up function while on sorties.

2. Let us customize our Cradles, I would love if the cradles could be customized to change the colors and skins, instead of having 50 different versions of the Bowierabbit cradle, we could swap the skins (decaled versions of the cradles), the texture of the cradle (Metallics, Matte, and Worn), and the color schemes. Currently each rarity has a different color scheme, but in the series, Drifters customize their cradles. Hell even Arc Raiders does a better job at this, and there isn't as complex loadouts as this game. They already sell us a bunch of color swaps and reskins of clothing items for our Magus, they could easily do this with patterns and decals for our cradles, miss opportunity for keeping this game funded and alive.

3. More selectable maps and accessibility without heavy progression. They have added new maps, that are heavily locked behind progression, which progression is fine, but you shouldn't need to spend more than 50+ hours unlocking them. One of the maps has four different versions of it depending on how far you have progressed in the game. Most players are only going to see the North and South versions of the map. Meanwhile if you have invested a ton of time in the game, you will get to see the Desert and Forest areas. But only for limited times, once you unlock a new map, it should now have a limited time window to go onto. They need to follow what Tarkov and Arc Raiders does with their maps. Then depending on when you have time to play the game, you will still only ever get to play on the East Amasia map, and that is it.

4. Player Character to Customize. Simple give us our drifter, I don't want to be a faceless ghost that you never see. Let us represent ourselves, the characters in the series were so unique, but we don't exist in the game. Another miss opportunity ignored from the source material this game is based on. I would love to see my Magus and Drifter wandering around my base.

5. More in-depth combat. Give us the unique abilities the magi had from the series, give us more melee options like the series has for the cradles. Combat just needs an overhaul in general to be more fun and engaging.

6. Better PVE and PVP balance, would love to see Arc Raiders system for matchmaking in this game. Make AO crystals feel actually important like the series does, not just something I occasionally go collect for quests to progress to open up new maps.

7. Make the Hangers more meaningful. Actually implement what the flavor text of the different stations of the living area actually do what they say. There are quite a few that say they boost your magus's performance, or increase hanger space, but don't actually do that.

I am sure there is more stuff I would love to see in this game, but these are the big ones for me. Overall, this game is fun for me, but I know it is not a great game. I would love to see this game be an actual competitor for other extraction shooters, but I feel like the live service of this game will only be around for a short time, which is a shame. Hopefully one day I can change this review to recommended, but I feel like that will never happen.

I absolutely loved the first Stories game back when it came out on the 3DS, bought it again on mobile and replayed the game a few times after that. Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a fantastic improvement of the first game. The combat feels smoother, the art style only got better, and the story was great!

If you love trying to collect all the armor and weapons in normal Monster Hunter games, then you will enjoy hunting down Monster Dens to collect all the ridable monsties in the game!

MHS2 is a fantastic RPG in the Monster Hunter universe, and if your are a fan of both of these then you will love this game!

Early Access Review
I bought this game with really high hopes in mind. I have backed many Indie Game developers before, but this is one game I regret backing because the spark of hope that I saw is quickly being snuff out.

Store bought assets being passed off as being the final product, taking back statements after the community points out the flaws and lies, endangering minors and telling them to not take prescribed medication, and silencing community members for speaking out.

This game really has a lot of drama and trouble that it should not having. If the developers spent more time working on the game and releasing content they worked on rather then using placeholders then people might have a little bit more faith.

I really wanted this game to do well, but I don't really see the development of this game lasting too long, and it is just gonna go dark like the rest of the Dragon simulator games that have come before it.

Kudos for killing my dream again of having a cool dragon game.

Final thoughts, the concept is just about everything I would want in a Dragon Simulator game, running around an open world, flying, breathing elements from your mouth, fighting off all sorts of crazy creatures and other dragons. Yet the early access state of the game is way to early to be put into the hands of an open community. I feel if the creator of the game would have waited two more years before releasing a playable version of the game we would not be seeing this madness.

Who knows this game might be really something one day, but in its current state of the progression of development and lack of professionalism being displayed with Day of Dragon's own community I strongly suggest you just stay out of the madness.

Hold your money and see if this game sinks or swims.

I absolutely love this game, I play it in spurts but in long periods of time. It is the kind of game I can shut my brain off and relax for hours on end.

I have been playing the game through many iterations. From when it was just a web browser based test build where everyone was colored rectangles, all the way through the current release of the game.

In my honest opinion, this game is fundamentally and creatively a vision of what Voxel Sandbox games can bring to the table. Yes, this game still has a long way to go to be fully flushed out from what the developers have set out to create.

This is the kind of game I can go home to from a long day at work and just unwind and play. I really enjoy it for that reason. I also love the community aspect of this game, my guild, the other settlements nearby us, and all the friendly players that don't mind lending a stranger a hand.

With that being said, if you are the kind of person that needs new features right off the bat then I don't suggest you grabbing this game right away. I think we still have a solid six months before more complimentary systems to the game will be added.

This is definitely a great game, it just needs more incubating before I think all players will enjoy it. So I would say add this game to your wishlist and keep a close eye to the upcoming updates and decide for yourself when you think the game has enough content to satisfy you then buy it.

Spiral Knights is a fun throw back game to play with friends, becuase it is a good old fashion dungeon crawler with some fun elements thrown into the mix.
