Fallout 3 was excellent, but New Vegas is the true spiritual successor to Black Isle's original classics. References to Fallout and Fallout 2 are plentiful, as are many of the gameplay conventions seen in those games (your SPECIAL stats actually mean something again, for starters). It's also fortunate to have one of the best DLC/expansions ever in Old World Blues.

Essential for Fallout fans.
