Having a blast with the game so far. I have a black bull dog, I tackled and punched the ♥♥♥♥ out of a nun, found a fat cat and carried it around petting it for a while. I also picked up a dead tree and smashed it on a bandit's head.

DLSS adds noise, I recommend turning it off if you want more clarity, even the DLAA option is noisy which is unusual. Performance has been pretty solid for me otherwise.

If you don't like or couldn't deal with the complex controls of Black Desert Online, you're probably going to have a bad time with this game. Once you get passed the learning curve things are pretty smooth.

If your idea of enjoying a game is to rush to the ending, this is not the game for you.

Solid foundation, but needs a lot of work.

Targeting is terrible for weapons, attacking ALL of the adds instead of boss is ♥♥♥♥ design. There is desperate need for some amount of control over where various attacks go towards, because what's the point in attacking whats behind you but everything spawns in front of you and you won't attack things blocking your way?

Stats on items lie to you, some stats have very low soft caps which results in heavy diminishing returns, resulting in wasted efforts into specific items (evasion tome, armor tome, etc). The items need to reflect the actual percentage they're adding.

Bugs in the forest exploding when you kill them means while they're spawned, shrines are near inaccessible. Only time they don't explode when you kill them is when time has stopped.

Unlike in vampire survivors, getting bad RNG means you need to restart a run, because you will not be able to kill a boss.

Great game. interesting story and lore. If you have a short attention span or always need a lot of hand holding in games, this game is not for you. As long as you don't skip dialogue and read some the clues and hints, most puzzles are easily completed. The different weapons all have their strengths and weaknesses, and the different abilities within each type of emotion can augment and change your play style ranging from super aggressive to tactical and methodical.

Only gripe was towards the end after killing one of the Timeloop Guardians and suddenly everywhere was being repeatedly impaled with white spears, had no clear reason why and I died. When I came back there wasn't an indication that such a thing should've happened, so I guess it was a bug or something.

Definitely hoping for a second game, as I have a lot of questions about the calamity and it's origins.

Worst Doom I've ever played. Some of the Chapters have maps that have objectives very spread out, this leads to traversing areas, and the lack luster music was just some synths that aren't memorable at all.

Music is average, nothing memorable, nothing that sounds like Doom. Just sounds like what you'd expect from some dudes having a jam session for djent.

This game is feels fairly short, which makes me think the reason for dragging out some of the levels is on purpose.

Combat is great. The fights are not, every chapter has at least 1 "boss" that is based on killing all the demons in an area to make the Morale meter go down to allow you to do damage to the boss. It became so repetitive that towards the end of the game i had to take breaks because I was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bored.

If you can get the game on a discount, then it's worth playing, otherwise just wait. You're not missing out on anything.

Absolute gem of a game

It has a great story, beautiful environment, deep development of characters and some of the best music i've heard in gaming.

10/10 Will play again, and will play more games from this dev.

Great game!

If you're looking for a new Oblivion and Skyrim, this is not an Open World go anywhere do anything. You are the Emperor's Envoy with a set goal of tackling the Dreamscourge. Everything else you do is however you want to play, there are consequences and changes to how things play out depending on your choices. Each area has it's own look and feel. There is plenty of sarcasm and silly things, while at the same time some pretty serious and potential to be cruel.

Fair warning: if you don't have a beefy machine, you will have to reduce many of the graphics settings.

Early Access Review
Needs more polish and updates. Needing to delay the game 2 times and then only release in early access displays a lack of proper management. I would figure after 2 delays, someone would've figured out you were putting too stringent of a timeline on development.

If you're unsure about the game, wait. It's worth mentioning that if you have a high end PC you're likely to crash regularly.

The game uses multiple cores, but not multiple threads, leading to what appears to be high CPU usage yet low power draw. Inventory management is a pain, because you have to drag your cursor back and forth in order to see what is in it, this is irritating as hell because you literally cannot see most things with any reasonable time, in addition to the already long interaction time of even just opening the inventory. GPS beeping is awful, especially if you've tweaked your equalizer settings or have surround sound, give a way to turn the damn thing off. Sounds in general are all overtuned and harsh as hell, everything doesn't need to be loud.

After 200 hours, and nearly a year later. This game had a lot of potential and it's squandered literally all of it. It has 2 maps, the 1st has okay performance, the 2nd one has performance that is absolutely awful, and somehow is even worse then the 1st map during the closed beta tests.

They changed hitboxes for critical hits and what not, so now the the critical hitbox is damn near impossible to hit unless you are the host.

Performance overall is absolutely ♥♥♥♥. It has massive stutters regularly, and each update steadily makes performance worse. Walk into a cave, and you'll have a decent hang due to the caveworms. It also happens whenever the host levels up or if someone cross into a different section of the map.

I've been in their discord for a long time, and the amount of people that just want new features and new things outweighs the ones that would rather have better performance and stability. The developers treat this like a PvP game talking about balance and were extremely resistant to adding in respec points. There is also the element of "how do we keep people playing for longer", much like World of Warcraft has and still attempts to do. At one point, it took a full in-game hour to craft a stamina paste to give you better stamina regen for 60 seconds, that is insane. It is now down to 30 minutes, which is still ridiculous.

There is a lot a I want to say, and even go as far to bash on, but I've gotten my point across.

I have uninstalled this game and may revisit it in 1-3 years and will update my review accordingly.

While this game seemingly has a lot of potential, I cannot recommend it. I do plan to finish the game as I've just reached chapter 7, but so many things feel forced in just to look cool, or are extremely jarring to the point that what I had originally accepted as quirks are now things I would consider were due to laziness or lack of caring about the quality.

I could probably continue ranting on every little thing, but I feel like i've gotten my point across with the below statements. If this developer released another game, I would wait for reviews on it before buying, but I would wishlist it in hopes that they learned from their mistakes during the development of this game.

Potential spoilers
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The game looks great, the story has potential. The weapons and the stats feel like they don't really fit the characters, they feel as if they were intended for creating your own class but the game has strict roles and many of the things seemingly have no real purpose. At one point Selene uses an ultimate ability that feels like it came completely out of nowhere, with no build up, in a fight I easily won by out playing the AI. Daryon's ultimate doesn't really fit his style or personality as he's literally just beating the enemy with his fists. I haven't even bothered with other characters ultimates because it's honestly really cringy and i'd rather avoid another annoyance.

Story telling starts goodish, then slowly gets worse, almost like there are parts missing about the backstory. (Example: I'm quite sure Daryon and Selene are adopted since their mother is black in-game and they're completely white, but literally nothing is mentioned ever). At one point you play a short scene as Oboros and pick 1 of 2 characters with absolutely no idea what or why you're picking them, and it's completely out of the blue. The are more plot holes that either are so loosely connected that without over analyzing you can't figure them out, or things were cut/forgotten about until it was too late. The various chapters feel like a different amount of effort was put forth into each one of them, Some feel like a good amount of care was taken to ensure flow and others were rushed just to get to the next part.

The Map and minimap system is just awful.

The characters start out good but never get a ton of development/growth and just continue getting more and more annoying. When you finally learn more things about the characters, it feels out of left field because so many things are only half-way done instead of spending the time to truly expose the characters. The short of this is: all the characters have hidden things and/or have obscured lots of things that all come out of nowhere towards the end.
