This game is extremely confusing, slow, and tedious.
The map is great, looks beautiful, and exploring it is fun. What the point of any of it is, I do not understand.
If the point of Slime Rancher 2 is to explore the map, the gameplay focuses too much on backtracking. The layout of the conservatory is ~65% dead space; combined with the slow movement speed, it just isn't fun to build your home.

The story is incoherent. The game keeps giving you items, which do... stuff. You must find resources on the map, which you send home, to make a thing, which allows you to send more items back home. What is the point of this gameplay loop? Collecting all the slime species into your home does nothing. The upgrades made with the crafted items do nothing. There is no end point, and one hasn't been added in the YEARS this development has taken.
If you want to make/play a game where you explore a beautiful and unique world, you need a structure which incentivises this.

My conclusion: This is not an exploration game, nor a farming game. All you do in this game is aimlessly wander around, with not enough inventory to keep the cute, pretty items you find.

Spelunky 2's difficulty stems from the way all the individual mechanics interact. Mastering the game isn't necessary to have fun; Most people give up after a couple hours. There's nothing wrong with that, though it might help you to know that the game isn't made to be won. Rather, the building up of skill and the laughing at unexpected deaths is what brings out enjoyment for most people. I recommend this game if you enjoy playing games for the experience instead of the story or competition. Luckily, that's what I'm into.
