I'm sure plenty of important critiques make up the mixed reception of this game, and I myself will say if nothing else that the Mac port is pretty darn clunky. However, I came here to write that yes I do recommend this game, because:

This is to the 1960's what Vice City is to the 1980's, and I mean that in more than just the obvious "they're both set in bygone eras ashley" kind of way. I feel that this game is the relevant and equivalent magnum opus (of the later 10's) in terms of a video game taking a swing at recreating a locale during an iconic period in history, and unlike L.A. Noire (the other key title in times of rendered nostalgia) it's expected, encouraged and enjoyable to shoot it out across the bayou with law enforcement and fellow crooks alike.

Also, since you made it this far, the actual telling of the main plot line is one of the slickest uses of a framing device I've seen in gaming, even if it does make some gentle spoilers implicit. Genuinely a cool game through and through though, in terms of style. As works set in the 60's tend to be.

The game's title screen consistently deploys the iconic opening riff of "All Along The Watchtower" and that's almost selling point enough tbh. I'm sure this title goes for a song/steal/whatever, cheap, on here these days, and I'd recommend picking it up, even if just for a taste of that atmosphere (at the right price)

Or just to listen to the Stones on the radio with Lincoln Clay as you cruise around the bayou. I really enjoy that, & feeding corpses to alligators.

Absolutely the best logical conclusion to the genius Plague Inc, in terms of both virus types collected here and the PI: Scenario Creator. While sussing it out today with a mate, we likened it to having watched Wallace & Gromit and then being given playdough & props to stage and restage it as you please. 10/10
