In all honesty I wish I could provide a mixed rating, cause while my main concern does feel like quite a large one that is going to grow ever larger as the game is updated and what not, there is a plethora of things the game does wonderfully that s o m e w h a t counteract it. While the game’s music, visual spectacle, style, tone, community involvement etc etc are quite grand, the means to get more tools of liberation aside from strategems is quite lacking and a large grind gate that honestly is just getting worse and worse and has shown to not be worth it quite often in the past.

The warbond system on paper sounds neat, collections of themed gear that you can work towards and through to get their goodies however the issue lies in the fact that regardless of the quality and quantity of gear they all cost (aside from the first free one) 1000 super credits, which while yes you can earn them at a decent rate while playing, the ever growing amount one is going to need to get all the equipment in the game is getting just a tad bit high, and that's not counting the literal mountain of medals you’ll need. As I mentioned regardless of the quality or quantity warbonds are going to always be 1000 super credits it brings some issues, a good few of the weapons provided in said warbonds have recently felt like just stat swaps of the base liberator rifle, or just clunky or underpowered the viper commandos warbond only providing 2 guns one of which being the liberator flipped to fuller auto and a throwing knife for the throwable this time around. I like the concept of warbonds cause as I said, neat little collections of themed gear it’s just tiring to have to constantly keep going for super credits on a coinflip for gear that i might not even use after the first mission or until a balance pass for them that makes them remotely worth using.

God I haven't even talked about what its going to be like as a new/returning player, i genuinely think there will be a very notable amount of people that get turned off from playing the game after seeing 60$+ worth of passes they have to grind/pay for to get all the gear in the game and its only going to get worse until improvements are made to the amount of super credits gained per acquisition (10 creds per drop quickly becomes next to nothing in the long run)

As I said at the start, the game does a lot of things good but this alone is a problem I find is going to get bigger and bigger to the point that not even the most die hard of fans will be able to ignore.

As of the boys in blue dlc release player armor is still in a horrid state with reliance on perks that should just be basic aspects of player armor entirely seriously why do i need a perk to be able to pick up the bits of armor found around heists and drops from dozers when my armor is gone?

[below still applies aside from progression its now akin to pd2's]
I wish I could give this a mixed rating, this has been a utter monkey paw of getting a payday game not burdened by its archaic engine and restrictions, but christ there are some blatant downgrades. Biggest one being progression which is now entirely relegated to challenges only makes it feel like a slog once you chew through the lower challenges (seriously why the ♥♥♥♥ is completing a heist 100+ times a challenge)

wait a few months hell make it a whole damn year before buying.

Whatever I would write here would be another "buy for zombies review", but because of a bug introduced because of a steam update that has turned the game's menus into a stuttery mess which supposedly gets worse with the less dlc you have installed ie campaign and multiplayer not being installed, with the only fix requiring a install of a possible easy anti-cheat trigger for other games you own that use it, I cant recommend it.
If there is ever a fix that doesn't require a install of said trigger I'll update this review.
