What Makes Cyberpunk 2077 a Great Game (in my opinion)

Cyberpunk 2077 had a messy launch, but after years of updates and a major expansion (Phantom Liberty), it's become one of the most impressive open-world RPGs you can play today. Here’s what stands out:

1. The World Feels Alive

Night City, the game's setting, is incredibly detailed and immersive. It’s loud, colorful, and full of personality. Every part of the city has its own vibe, from rundown slums to glittering corporate tower, and just walking around feels like exploring a living, breathing place. You’ll see people going about their lives, hear different languages, catch random street conversations, and watch ads flash across massive buildings. It’s a world that pulls you in and keeps you there.

2. The Story is Strong, Especially the Characters

At the heart of the game is a personal, often emotional story. The way relationships develop in this game is fascinating. But the side characters really shine. Panam, Judy, River, and others all have depth and feel like real people. Many side quests are just as gripping as the main story, with emotional choices and consequences that stick with you.

3. You Can Play Your Way

The game gives you a lot of freedom in how you handle missions. You can sneak around using stealth and hacking, go in guns blazing, or even talk your way through some situations. Your character can be built in many different ways, you can focus on brute strength, tech skills, sharpshooting, or hacking. The recent updates improved this a lot, making combat more fun and giving you better tools to customize how you play.

4. Combat and Cyberware are Fun

Fighting in Cyberpunk 2077 feels exciting. Gunplay is fast and responsive, and there are tons of weapons to try out. The really fun part is cyberware, upgrades you install in your body to give you powers. You can slow time, jump higher, rip enemies apart with blade-arms, or punch through walls. These abilities make you feel powerful and fit the futuristic vibe perfectly.

5. It Looks and Sounds Great

Even years after its release, this game still looks amazing. The lighting, reflections, and city design all add to the atmosphere. Whether it’s raining in the city at night or the sun is rising over the desert, it’s visually striking. The music is also a highlight there's a mix of electronic, rock, and ambient tracks that shift depending on what’s happening in the game. Voice acting, especially from the main cast, is top-notch.

6. Phantom Liberty and Updates Changed Everything

The Phantom Liberty expansion added a new area, a spy-themed storyline, and more of that gritty, dramatic storytelling. Driving was improved, new abilities were added, and performance got better overall. It basically turned Cyberpunk 2077 into the game people originally hoped it would be.


Cyberpunk 2077 may have started out rocky, but it's become something truly special. With its rich world, memorable characters, flexible gameplay, and a stunning audiovisual experience, it now delivers on the promises it once struggled to meet. The updates and Phantom Liberty expansion didn’t just fix bugs they reshaped the game into one of the most immersive and rewarding RPGs out there.
