Autodesk fusion is genuinely the worst software of all time
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate Autodesk Fusion. Let's say you need to cad a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spacer. The first step is to click the Fusion icon in your taskbar, or what I like to call it, the slow-your-entire-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-computer-down button. Then, you have to wait 10 million years for it to open, only to be greeted by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "What do you want to design?" menu. I have never ever ever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wanted to use the stupid part design or assembly design modes. No sane ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ person will ever choose anything except hybrid mode because that's what it was like before. Seriously, why would you ever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ change it? Okay cool you're in hybrid mode now. Now its time to make a new component (which takes about 30 seconds because of how awfully ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow the program is, even though you have a completely empty file open) and create a sketch and extrude it. After spending about 5 more minutes than it should take to model a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cylinder, you need to put a hole through it. Luckily, there's a handy hole tool. Thank god it has no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue where you want to put the hole and you have to spend a whole minute convincing it that you don't want to put the hole in some random ass spot on your model. Now that you're done modeling the spacer, you can now save (which takes 20 seconds longer than it should). Just keep in mind that you ever have the patience to save again, you'll have to wait another 20 seconds. Now you need to add in a 3d model of a motor or something. Sounds easy, right? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrong! You have to upload your stupid little 3d model to the cloud because someone decided that it was a good idea to force you to always work in the cloud when there is literally no one but you working on this 3d model. Cool so reopen the data panel (which takes about 90 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seconds) and click the very ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unresponsive upload button. After you select your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ file from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ windows file explorer popup (which is somehow the fastest part of this stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ process), you can click upload and wait about 1000 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the amount of time it takes to upload a 300kb step file is actually unbearable. There's no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason that importing a 3d model should take more than like 20 seconds, but somehow fusion makes it take like 5 minutes. Several years later, once the files finally uploaded, you can now assemble your spacer and motors. You open another file, which takes another 30 years, and then drag in your spacer. After staring at your completely frozen computer for about 10 minutes while the component gets added, you can use the joint tool to add your spacer. If you thought the hole tool was annoying to use, get this: you have to select TWO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ points to join. It takes the patience of a saint to deal with how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying selecting your two snap points is. And when you finally select the center of the circle after 30 of the most annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seconds of your life, you get to see your silly little spacer glide its way to the snap point 90 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ degrees off of what you wanted. After about 30 minutes of reselecting your snap points and changing the settings a bit you can finally enjoy your one spacer being placed correctly. Now you get to do it 5 more times! But wait. Your stupid ass from a week ago made a dumb ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mistake and you need to go fix it. So you roll back the timeline, which honestly takes longer than just starting over and redoing all of your work, only to change one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dimension in one tiny ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sketch so you can go to the front of your timeline, which takes longer than the lifetime of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ universe, so you can happily carry on adding your spacers (Happy if you ignore the billions of errors you just made). After you go through the grueling jointing process again to add the rest of your spacers you can finally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joint your motor on (which takes another 5 lifetimes to do properly) and you are rewarded with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ model that you know will not be accurate to the real life version because of course it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ won't. I hate cad. I regret being an engineer. No, I will not switch to solidworks.
