Amazing visuals and amazing soundtrack, both of which mesh perfectly together. Simply beautiful, and highly recommended.
Best treated as an interactive art piece than a video game, though, since the platforming itself is extremely simple (minus maybe the no damage eel achievement). Not really walking simulator level, but still.

Going to start off by saying that I've only played the "Full Chorus" (fully voiced DLC) version and not the base game, so I may be wrong on some details about the game itself, but it shouldn't be anything too significant.

Second, yes, this game does have explicit content, but those scenes are few and far between, and although they do tie into the main plot, they're presented more as a progression of the relationship rather than fanservice to get off to. They probably make up less than 5% of the game, at best. I bought it off a recommendation without knowing the game contained explicit content, and it lined up pretty well with my expectations for that kind of media (minus the initial shock of the premise).

Kindred Spirits on the Roof is probably my favorite piece of yuri media by far, and has a sense of depth and relationship-building you don’t really see in your common “fluff” girl-meets-girl -> confession -> smooth-sailing-lovey-dovey-relationship kind of yuri. It instead chooses to explore the twists and turns that happen during the course of a relationship, and the changes and growth that go along with them. This does mean you might end up reading hours of dialog before the relationships start becoming intimate enough for your liking, which might not work if you’re just looking for a quick yuri fix, but the emotional payoff of it all is definitely worth it. The characters are all well-written and everything’s done tastefully, so I’m sure you’ll love them all in time.

That being said, there are a few iffy parts that might put you off if you don’t have any experience with “anime”-ish plotlines. One of the couples is a student-teacher couple (initiated by the student), and some parts at the end might be considered a bit morally questionable, but honestly, if you’re looking at 18+ anime visual novels, you’re probably used to stuff on that level already. There are also a few “oh no I’m a girl but I’m into girls???” moments, but the game still treats those moments pretty seriously, so I’d say it’s well-handled for a 10-year-old Japanese VN.

The VN itself is completely linear (minus some dialog choices which do absolutely nothing but unlock the extra content), and is split into three sections listed on the in-game calendar: bears, cherries, and apples. “Bears” show the events of each day occurring from the perspective of Yuna, the protagonist, and the two “kindred spirits”, Sachi and Megumi. After playing through a number of “bear” events, you’ll unlock the respective “cherry” events for each day, which show those day’s events from the perspective of the couples in the story, and after playing through all those “cherry” events, you’ll unlock more “bear” events. This does mean you’ll have to go through all the events of any couples you don’t like to resume the main story, but I found that seeing how each girl reacts and changes across the course of the story made me love all of them, so it’s not much of an issue. The “apples” are extra content, which you unlock after selecting dialog choices and completing the main game (this means you’ll have to replay each day with dialog choices, press the skip button, and select the other option for each dialog choice). Although it’s “extra” content, it’s still substantial, taking me about ~10 hours with Full Chorus. The extra content only has a few scenes focusing on each couple, which might be disappointing for those just looking for the romance content, but as someone who adheres to the Ano School of Thought, it had some of my favorite scenes in the game, and is well worth playing through.

The game took me about 50 hours to complete with the Full Chorus DLC, I think (don’t remember too well, it’s been a while), but it’ll probably take much less if you’re just running through the base game. I highly recommend playing through with the DLC, although this might not be as important if you don’t know Japanese. It also gets you a couple hours of drama CDs and commentary from the VAs (I think?), which is also pretty nice.

If you're still on the fence, there's a bit more information on the game (and a demo) on the MangaGamer website, although it does have spoilers.

Anyways TL;DR: 11/10 game, buy Full Chorus, I love them all (but especially Hina), Aki x Youka is criminally underrated, and in the words of Kiri, "I'm gay"
