If you want to get shot by bizarre weapons in surreal locations, STRAFTAT is here to cradle your beautiful deformed corpse in its ever-loving arms.

Great fun for fans of 2D platformers and casual players in general. It's on the easier side of the genre, but it can still get quite challenging in the later levels, especially if you're attempting speedruns.

The story is pretty funny too, I ended up liking basically every character, even the silent protagonist who only communicates through emotes. The extroverts, your main opponents, are all very different from one another and they can make a level get super tricky. Keep an eye open for the jumping grandpa that can put NBA players to shame.

The art is great and the music is catchy as well, it matches the mood of the game perfectly.

I've found a few bugs here and there, but most of them have been patched before I could report them, so I believe the game will get even better in the near future.

One of my favorite metroidvanias of 2023. Great aesthetics, music and really impressive gameplay, especially for an indie title.

A nice treat for Metroid and exploration fans in general. The start of the game is a bit slow, but keep playing and you will soon find a really neat MV experience to enjoy here.

You are a SolarBot, so you need light to keep running. This means that the game's map is filled with well illuminated areas like labs or even a city, as well as dark places like caverns and forests. This works out great to keep you out of areas you are not yet ready to tackle. Ran out of energy before reaching the place you wanted? It's simple, explore somewhere else and return when your SolarBot has more upgrades.

All in all, it's a pretty well made game, albeit a bit short. Exploration is definitely the strongest point of the game and whilst the combat is pretty basic, it doesn't really detract from the overall enjoyment of the game.

Early Access Review
Billion Beat is great. The visuals and music are on point. The gameplay follows the Punch-Out formula perfectly: time your punches and dodge or counter theirs. If you make a mistake, your character will take a bit to recover and that is more than enough time for your opponent to mess you up, so learn from coach Baby T and DON'T JUST MASH THE BUTTONS!

There's also a bunch of stuff to keep things fresh like "hype moves", items and even progression. Successfully landing a regular punch rewards you with a bit of energy and you need that energy to dish out the heavy punishment, so you quickly start to get into this flow of dodging and countering to build up your energy until you can finally let your hands fly.
If you lose your focus it's easy to get overwhelmed and lose a lot of health, but you can get some back by popping up some DRANX bottles during the fight (that's considered a b*tch move, though).

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. It looked cool in the trailers, and it is cool when you play it. Also, it's on early access, so it'll probably get even better.

Play this if you want to knock out an ugly alien with a slap.

This is a really fun game. An amazing metroidvania with a strong focus on puzzles plus a great story and beautiful pixel art.

The whole cast of characters is charismatic and the fact that you can pick your dialogue options can make for some really funny conversations. The soundtrack is also incredibly well made and some tunes will stay in your head even after finishing the game.

Be aware that the game can get pretty hard, though, and some encounters/puzzles will definitely test if you mastered its mechanics while also throwing everything it can at you, so I can see some players getting frustrated, but fortunately there's a fair variety of accessibility features available to help the ones in trouble.

All in all, a great experience. Recommended!

The hype was real. Game is gud. A roguelite that gives you more reasons to replay it instead of simple progression.

One of the best platformers of all time. Amazing controls, level design, sountrack and a nice little story to boot. Every chapter has new mechanics to keep the gameplay fresh and keep you engaged.

The levels feel almost like a puzzle, challenging you to use everything you learned so far, and when you finally find out the correct order of moves it's time to put your skills to the test and pull it off.

There's tons of extras for the completionists and even super hard challenges for the players with nerves of steel.

If you enjoy platform games, you own it to yourself to climb this mountain.

Fables of Talumos is a surprisingly good game that manages to hit those sweet nostalgia notes for fans of the old Zeldas. It was made by a single dev and as such is not a game without flaws, however, the good outweighs the bad, and there's a great adventure game to be played here.

The amount of lore/flavor to be found in the game is impressive. The world-building is so good that you can't help but feel disheartened when you get to the end and you find out it was over before you could visit all the places mentioned by the NPCs.

I enjoyed my time playing this game and finished it twice, collecting all achievements in the process. I'd love a chance to explore the "whole" world of Talumos, so I will keep my eyes peeled if the dev ever decides to give it another chance. It deserves it.

Short, but very well-crafted game. Would love to see a full fledged title based on it.
