If you value your sanity, do not play this game.
You will lose time, your life, and money.
Game is great. Community is mostly terrible.
Server connection is terrible, you get punished for Valve's fault, and then when another player deserves a punishment, the punishment is so insignificant that they continue their terrible behaviour.

If you can take on a terrible community, go on 30 losing streaks due to team, and not buy a single cosmetic, go for it.

PROS: Great game. Gameplay is difficult, intricate and requires great amount of logic. Some people are nice enough, but it's pretty rare. Winning games is very emotionally rewarding too.

CONS: Community is terrible. Rascism is prevalent, from people screaming at Russians for feeding, to screaming at Peruvians for playing Dota 2. The way Valve deals with its community problems in Dota is terrible. Bad behaviour is often punished so insignificantly that the violator will simply continue, while people who are disconnected due to Valve's terrible server are punished equally to the violators.

Also, this game is amazingly addicting. You can play with your friends all the time, and have no fun (since you kill everything), or go solo. If you win, you want to play another match to feel the satisfaction again, however if you lose, you just say "one more, one more match then I quit" until you win, and then restart the cycle.

MOBA's in general I find have a terrible community.

Last note: However bad the community is, THIS GAME IS AMAZING TO WATCH OTHERS PLAY. I love this game, I hate playing it, and I love to watch matches.
