Robocraft 1 has been shut down as of 22 January 2025 23:00 GMT.

Hadn't played since 2015 so came back one last time for a send-off via Steam Deck. Still had some fun with making some wacky killer robots such as a flying bug zapper (pillar of Tesla blades with a heli-rotor on top), but keyboard controls were frustrating to wrangle with Steam Input.

Free-to-play mechanics such as needing to pay Robits to increase robot complexity were an annoying part of the workflow. Wasn't there to see all the outrageous updates which would've boiled my blood too. 'Twas a miracle that Robocraft somehow lasted 10 years!

I really loved the premise of blocky Robot Wars, but Robocraft was suboptimal for fulfilling that fantasy.

Works pretty much perfectly on Steam Deck!
Stable 60fps even on max settings (whichever settings you choose there's a random dip to 59fps but perfectly playable).

Right now you just have to manually fullscreen the game every time you launch it, but the gamepad controls work perfectly.

Snip It! is a very straightfoward Qix clone to the letter. 25 levels with 3 cool powerups and a smooth difficulty curve. Later levels (around level 10) have that "just one more try"feeling no matter how much the enemy speed ramps up per level. The three powerups are a speed boost, a ZA WARUDO! enemy pause and a handy bomb for thinning out the hordes.

It's Qix and it's free, so why not try this awesome arcade game throwback?

This bubble breaker game is a rigged bingo machine.

Firstly, the bubbles have magnetic physics, which although sound helpful are actually frustrating, since each bubble's magnetic field is painfully small. This mean that sometimes you end up "missing" that massive combo chain of two chains because the magnetism has decided to teeter towards one chain rather than both of them, although sometimes this magnetism works in your favo(u)r, making the game basically play itself for you at least a few combos before all is still again. However, such mechanic is very annoying due to its unreliable nature, especially when you are trying to complete a level in the fewest moves possible.

It also doesn't help that the camera is placed in a "at the side of the table" perspective, which makes it hard to see which balls are connected to each other by their weak magnetic fields.

There are also power ups that should help you destroy a bunch of bubbles per use, which I haven't even been able to use because the energy recharge rate is too slow to get a power up before I end up completing a level. (You can upgrade the power ups and your energy's recharge rate etc. but you don't even need them due to how the game tends to play itself often, eliminating the need for power ups in the first place!)

Overall, I have not enjoyed this game very much due to its unpredictable nature.

I do not recommend this game at all, even on sale or in a bundle; You can play countless better bubble breakers online for absolutely free!

Crush Crush is an idle game themed around dating random girls you accidentally "meet" in unique catastrophic ways. (Please excuse the pun and subtle spoiler!)
The aim of the game is to fill up each girl's affection meter to the "Lovers" stage. To reach the next stage, you have to meet certain requirements and objectives, such as reaching a certain job title in a certain job, reaching a high-enough level in a certain job, buying them certwain gifts and clicking them enough times.

Jobs and hobbies take up Time-Slots, which you only have a small supply of, so you can only work at so many jobs and hobbies simultaneously. You can unlock more time slots by reaching the next affection meter stage for a girl and getting achievements.

Jobs give you money each time they are completed after a certain amount of real-life time. Your hard-earned cash can be used to spend on gifts and dates for your girls.
Hobbies take up real-life time and Time-Slots, just like Jobs, to level up specific Traits, like Surfing buffs levels up your Buff trait.

I love the backgroung soundtrack and the character design, both in art style and personality. However, I am not keen on how hard and slowly you have to grind to fill up each girl's affection meter (then again, I am pretty impatient and don't like waiting to level up in (m)any videogame(s), so maybe the idle game genre just isn't for me) and how rare diamond drops are.

Speaking of diamonds, Diamonds are the premium currency of this f2p game. They can be used to skip levels in your hobbies and to buy what you normally would with your usual money.

If you like idle games like Cookie Clickers and AdVenture Capitalist, you may also like this game.

This game is hirlarious but only supports local multiplayer and has no settings.

Quit the game by pressing Escape (Esc).

You can insult someone by saying: "This parrot is full of eels and still uses Windows Vista!"

6/10 it alright, just not subtle or nuanced. Give it a try if you like!

I found it difficult to enjoy this game.

There were many spawn campers and players who must have payed for more powerful weapons, making it hard to survive navigating the map without dying a few steps from the spawning point.

A way around the campers is to dig your way underneath and around them with a useful shovel. However, when I tried this tactic, the camper(s) either got pwned or so bored that they moved elsewhere.

My main experiences were 1) trying to spot spawncampers, 2) Loathing how items in the shop (must have) costed real money (because I have no idea how to get coins in this and the price format "$0.79" gave it away) and most required you to achieve a high enough rank on top of that.

I did not enjoy this game because of the reasons above and that it felt like a waste of time because of the above reasons.
I do not think you will either.
