Really? come on people.. this sounds horrible. I dont understand how something can sound so loud and yet I need to keep turning it up because I seemingly cant hear whats going on in the mix. it sounds very flat, vocals and drums are buried in the mix, the strings have distortion in way to many areas and they still some how dont stand out or come to the front of the mix. What a jumbled mess.
Super Vinyl is dead quiet though, my copy came warped (cupped) and with a dry white substance (glue?) on the last tracks of each side though it doesn't appear to be audible.

I dont know whats to blame for this awful sound the mastering (mofi) or the recording. if the recording is to blame then why even release this. I haven't heard any other versions of this, I just know what a good record sounds like. the most complained about mofi records of recent years are breakfast in America and tapestry, this is worse in almost every way.

and yes I gave this a ultrasonic clean already. I will bring this to my friends $200k system and see if that changes anything but usually I dont have to do that and my (modest) $10k system is good enough to reproduce a record properly. at $85-$100 Canadian this is a joke, if youre deciding whether to buy or not I would definitely skip this one or buy my copy off me if you must have it.

Do you like Coheed and Cambria? Their early work was a little too progressive for my taste. But when The Color Before The Sun came out in 2015, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "The Dark Sentencer,” a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the dangers of authoritarian politics and the importance of an incredibly complex series of science fiction comic books melded with nearly the entire discography of a hard rock band.
