i cant really think of any other games like this. everything in it is about learning - learning where you need to be heading, learning how to manage your time to get to the next safe point, learning how to effectively take on extremely dangerous predators, learning what to even *do* with the lack of any words. it's a bit of a process, and it's probably the reason why the game doesn't have as high of a rating on here as it should. in my opinion, though, it's what makes the game so good. play it blind, or at most with a friend watching who can nudge you in the right direction.

i've felt the most adrenaline i've ever felt playing a video game playing pizza tower. maniacal, irrational thoughts of becoming a speedrunner rushed through my mind because of this game. i have embodied the definition of insanity. and that is all just from getting a perfect rank on the first level, not to mention the rest of the masterwork design in this mona lisa of a game. it accomplishes everything it sets out to be, and goes far, far beyond that, surpassing even its inspirations. pizza tower is a possible contender for game of the entire decade, and i'd give tour de pizza my own money five times over if i had the opportunity, seeing as my own copy was already bought for me by a friend. every element of it is great - the gameplay, the MASSIVE amount of beautifully expressive art, every single banger on the soundtrack, its easily lovable characters, and even its sweetly simple story of an anxious man on a mission to save his restaurant. whole-hearted 10/10 from me

Gonna be honest, despite what most of the negative reviews are saying, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Repentence actually makes the game *easier* to get into. My biggest problem with the game before this DLC was that so many items were either good or bad, with no inbetween. That wasn't particularly fun. With the new balancing, you can get far with almost *any* items. I finally want to play characters other than Isaac with the D6.

As for the real new content, why are people even complaining about that not being beginner friendly? You have to beat an advanced boss 3 times in order to even access it - I think you'd know what you're getting into with that. Even if you're not to that level of play yet, Repentance is still worth it for the balancing, new regular unlocks, and especially true co-op.

Repentance is the definitive version of Isaac, whether experienced players like the changes or not. I really would recommend this to anyone.

Let me just put this out here first: This game is addicting. And at this point in its development, it's also very frustrating and unbalanced. You're going to die way too many times to BS amounts of enemies, single pixels of acid or fire, or accidental suicides from unintentionally exploding or electrocuting yourself. And this isn't going to stop you. This game has one of the absolute best physics engines I have ever seen, but it's held back by the fact that it doesn't encourage you to experiment with it; it's simply a tool to interact with and get through levels. But this isn't going to stop you, either. You have complete and total freedom over the game, even if that freedom will kill you a lot more easily than simply going through each cave. Anything can be destroyed, and anything can be killed. Including you.

2022 review update: mf really said "it's simply a tool to interact with and get through levels". this game probably has the highest amount of secret content ive ever seen, and its all accessible through that engine. (still has bs deaths tho but thats the game baby)

I have to say, Heat Signature is probably my favorite underrated game at the moment. Its pick-up-and-play, mission-based structure makes it an easy choice when you have time to kill, but not too much of it. The gameplay itself reminds me a bit of a sci-fi, more strategy-based Hotline Miami where you have to learn to live with your mistakes instead of simply restarting the level. The Space Birthday update makes it feel much more feature-complete as well, giving many more incentives to playing more often, such as Daily Missions. I definitely invite anyone to give Heat Signature a shot, it deserves a bigger playerbase!
