This is my new favorite indie Soulslike. It channels the spirit of Dark Souls particularly well; the real meat of Hellpoint is in the atmosphere and exploration. The combat is solid and fun as well -- I especially enjoyed the weapon familiarity system which definitely added a lot of depth to the combat in the later game.

Ultimately, it's the presentation of the game that really hooked me. Irid Novo is a bleak and beautiful place, and a totally original one as well. You can get lost very easily in the labyrinthine levels but I loved this. This game is a dream come true for completionists and secret hunters. There is so much to see and do that it's overwhelming at times. The plot, while derivative in places, is nonetheless swathed in mystery and thus remains compelling.

HIGHLY recommended for any and all Souls fans. 9/10
