Hearts of Iron IV is a positively great addition to Paradox’s grand strategy collection. I have had this game for around a year now and have mounted little under 730 hours (or if my maths is correct) 12% of my year?

This game doesn’t really get old. With almost every country in the world in 1936 appearing in the game, all of which are playable, endless possibilities unravel. You could do a historical game or play as Germany and win the war or even conquer the world as Luxembourg!

Even if you run out of ideas in the base game, there’s a huge library of mods on the workshop which create more new historical scenarios such as WW1, the Cold War and Modern Day. You can also play alternate history mods such as Kaiserreich.

Whilst this game isn’t for small wallets when it’s not on sale, it is great value whilst on sale and comes with great DLC.
