I originally wanted to read umineko, but later found out that its structure is very similar to higurashi, and that it's better to start with the latter. Honestly, I had no idea I would get this hooked. I loved the way the story is told and how exquisitely it's divided into arcs, showing the narrative from different perspectives. Each part did a fantastic job of expanding on already familiar characters.

The pacing is also brilliantly handled: right around the time a chapter starts to feel a bit slow, the plot instantly kicks in. Also another great touch is the all-cast review session after each chapter, it really helps to clear your head and lets you hear the characters (or rather, their voice actors? idk) thoughts on what just happened.

Speaking of the voice acting, it deserves a special mention. The cast did an incredible job bringing out the characters personalities. I was also really glad that Ooishi got so much more screen time and dialogue in this arc cuz I've always been a big fan of him. And the soundtrack is phenomenal, it completely nailed the atmosphere in every single scene.

Truly peak, I would recommend higurashi to everyone who reading this review. Trust me, you won't regret
