Early Access Review
Flotsam is a village, albeit a floating one, simulation/management game where you recruit other survivors to your budding town, craft a host of stuff to make their lives a lot easier, and make sure your people stay alive and are happy. Your floating village can also move in this game and you can choose which location to head to via the map. Depending on your choices, you'll discover different resources, including cans of oil which will allow you to travel to specific areas; as well as rare materials like metal and seaweed.

Pros
+ Build and develop your own floating village! There's a limit as to how huge your village can get but it's big enough.
+ Challenging gameplay. Managing your village is no easy feat in this game, especially if you like having more people in your village.
+ Enough content at the moment to give you a feel for the game
+ Really love the art style and the music's good too!
+ Your villagers don't instantly starve to death or die of thirst.
+ You can recruit a seagull to help you haul and scavenge stuff

Cons
- AI needs some work.
> One of my workers who almost starved to death can still cook some food, store that food, not eat the food, go do something else, and then died.
> Boats don't go to the nearest empty dock for some reason.
> Hungry and thirsty workers will still sail out without eating or drinking first.
- Bugs... the game's early access after all
> Sometimes, buoys I placed will disappear for no reason.
> Workshop sometimes stopped working because no villagers would go there and work. Had to disassemble the workshop and rebuild it for it to work again
- Game is fairly short for now. Maybe the devs could refer to the procedural generated "river" in The Flame in the Flood.
- The cost can be a bit high at the moment considering the lower amount of content.

Feedback
- Show the rate (in numbers or percentages) at which water and food is consumed. This info would be super useful
- For some reason, a seagull counts as a worker and needs a bed/home?
- Let the worker who sailed the boat unload the boat. I've noticed that most of the time, the worker will just go do something else, leaving the boat for another worker to unload, which might take a while.
- Let workers transfer items directly from the boat to the Drying Rack or any crafting station, and not just to storage.
- Let us gather resources like seaweed too since it's vital for Deep Sea Fishing.
- Let us remove survivors from the village. I've had to work around several villagers with the "Greedy" disadvantage

Tips
Managed to complete an entire run on my first playthrough :)
* Don't recruit too many villagers - don't forget that you have to feed them all and some of them might consume more food and drinks than a normal villager.
* Don't forget to do research. Only spend the points on tech that is useful. You'll want to unlock the Solar Still and the Deep Sea Fishing as soon as you can. You'll want stoves to cook your food too, to further maximize the limited amount of food you'd get if you just dry the fishes you catch.

Overall
Despite still needing some work done - the game's still in early access after all, Flotsam definitely shows a lot of promise. In addition to the amazing art style, the game is both challenging and fun, despite being a bit short. Definitely a game worth keeping a close eye on, and once it gets a bit more content and maybe a discount, you might want to buy the game and give it a try yourself!
