incredible twin stick shooter that i hope more people will play. the design is tight, the challenge is present at every turn and there are a lot of options to choose from, from simple color customization to game modes.

is there "pick one out of three"? yeah there sure is but there might as well not be. there isn't going to be a build that saves you here, merely preference on playstyles you'll have to compromise for.

what you won't have to compromise for is ridiculously good gameplay and a banger soundtracker. please play this game.

(as a point of criticism i hope there was a bit more polish on the UI. it's more than serviceable but it feels like UI design and game/visual designs are on different levels. not a huge sticking point since you should be playing the game most of the time)

labelled "unknown" on steam deck as of writing this but works great out of the box.

a better, more complete game than its predecessor. it still has the same quirks (being the infinity engine) meaning things like pathfinding still suck very badly, but it feels more put together - more voice acting, quests that are vastly more interesting and meaningful to your journey, and more varied locations.

it fixes a lot of the issues baldur's gate 1 had. to me it fixes the biggest one : the game is a bit more concise. you can wander a lot in BG1 and a lot of maps are just... empty. game feels hollow at times. baldur's gate 2 is much more engaging on several fronts, while still looking great as an infinity engine game.

is it the greatest crpg of all time? hall of fame worthy? is the writing quality incredible? i don't know. what i do know is that this is a pretty good game with a set of very dedicated fans and it's not hard to understand why.

a solid time. i would give it all for pieberry.

you can feel the game had a lot of passion poured into it, from its design to its story. the game is rather compact, as in you aren't going to explore huge open world fields or 25 different maps for one area, but it makes the most of it in the best way possible, and every nook and cranny has a little something for you to do.

on top of that, pieberry is relativey customizable, offering a few ways to go about the game. not immensely in depth, but still has you pondering at times which option to pick.

the only shame is that of the witchspring series, only 3 is available on steam, and only in a mobile port format, which is unfortunate because i would very much like to play the rest of the series.

as a point of criticism : i like how the game looks visually but sometimes it gets a bit intense on the lighting and makes the game very hard to look at to the point it is disrupting. unsure if it's some sort of post processing but there's not a lot of graphical customization (3 presets) so a bit of polish on that front would make it better. nothing world ending as it only happened a few times, but still unfortunate nonetheless.

i think you should play this game!

a gold star for you simply for considering playing this game

crymachina is a little bit of a weird action rpg / visual novel hybrid. not terribly long on either count, but a drastic step up from crystar (which i will reference several times, don't really have much of a choice!)

so what exactly is crymachina? the loop of the game is : relatively short action stage, story event, discussions at base. by all account, the story is rather short and not terribly verbose - it says what it wants to say and gets to it rather quick. the themes are much like crystar (family, humanity and love and what those mean), but the biggest difference is the gameplay. unlike crystar, crymachina does not waste your time with endless, absolutely mindless dungeon crawling, and that allows the game to shine. which also lets every other aspect of the game shine. great performances from the VAs also help elevate the whole package.

the combat isn't on par with more "modern" combo games, but between the few moves you can pull off, it felt fun to me, and is not a button masher. if anything, button mashing will get you killed really quickly - the action stages are short and the focus is on bosses, and messing up on attacks means that half your health will simply disappear. to counter that, if you stay relatively on par with the level requirement and get a bit of gear, you will do equal damage and blast though the opposition. i was able to grind what i needed to beat the game within the 16 hours (with a bit of idling) it took me to beat this. it's relatively forgiving, which once again eased the burden compared to the ridiculous requirements crystar asked of you to beat the game.

i fully expect the type of person to pick up this game to enjoy it, but it isn't going to convert people who only play AAA offerings. it's much better than crystar on that front, thank god. if you crave more of the game, there's even a bit of post conclusion things to do!

at the end of the day, this is a furyu game, which means ambition and passion meets lower budget so a more restrained game. i do think the price is a bit daunting for the average person (i picked it up on sale myself) but i had a fantastic time with this game and might come back to it eventually for the extra things i have not done.

another gold star for you for reading this!

hadn't played skyrim in over a decade. decided to play the special edition because i got given it for free, why not. boot up the game, marry lydia, she leaves after the wedding ceremony and i cannot find her anywhere in the world. feels like home.

a solid follow up to tetris effect. due to the different natures of the game (and lumines being a tad less "competitive"/"known") there's more effects with the backgrounds, puzzle pieces and theming. i would say there's less of a wow factor because this game exists in a post tetris effect world, but that does not diminish the quality of the work that was put into this. as an aside : i think the icons you can customize are cuter than whatever we had going on in tetris effect.

a solid selection of tracks, playlist mode lets you pick your favorite stages to play on, and there's a decent amount of accessibility (actual accessibility options) & difficulty settings, including changing how blocks are dropped.

as a point of criticism as of writing this : i wish we had a bit more options or there was some clean up work done, because some block sets are a bit harder to parse, and sometimes the UI gets a bit too lit up and makes it hard to see things like upcoming blocks. nothing major but things that can slightly get irksome here and there.

i do still think it's worth your time and money. if you aren't certain, you can always grab lumines remastered on sale for a handful of dollars, make up your mind, and come pick this up later!

mostly a more interactive DND campaign. it is fun, there's some things to do here and there (mostly quests scattered about) but the story is rather light and the companions aren't overly interesting past initially meeting them.

i do think it's a fun time and this has a "story" mode that lets you mostly go through the game without bothering too much with the intricacies of earlier DND. there's a couple issues here and there (characters being finnicky to click and travel spots not always been obvious) but nothing that dampens the experience *too* much.

i do not know if furries make the "best" games but their offerings usually have very obvious passion and interest put into them. atlyss is not really different on that front.

despite being labelled a "single player/online rpg", it's a pretty fun action game at its core that doubles up as a way to hang out with your friends at a pretty decent price.

movement is tight, skills are cool, customization is fairly extensive and fun, there's cute little secrets to find and more importantly, the game knows what it wants to be and sticks to it. pick it up, it's a decent time!

i do have some complaints about the camera / targeting (mostly because i was playing ranged and it kind of got to be a pain to re-target every single time earlier on) but i don't think it is a deal breaker.

it will take a small amount of time for things to click but when they do i don't think you'll be disappointed.

be wary that "steam deck playable" is not 100% true, i had to jump through some hoops to find the right compatibility settings

other than that i think it is better than civ 6, less micro involved but decisions still feel impactful

fun little mix of idler and incremental, decent price tag to accompany it. sure, why not?
