a better, more complete game than its predecessor. it still has the same quirks (being the infinity engine) meaning things like pathfinding still suck very badly, but it feels more put together - more voice acting, quests that are vastly more interesting and meaningful to your journey, and more varied locations.

it fixes a lot of the issues baldur's gate 1 had. to me it fixes the biggest one : the game is a bit more concise. you can wander a lot in BG1 and a lot of maps are just... empty. game feels hollow at times. baldur's gate 2 is much more engaging on several fronts, while still looking great as an infinity engine game.

is it the greatest crpg of all time? hall of fame worthy? is the writing quality incredible? i don't know. what i do know is that this is a pretty good game with a set of very dedicated fans and it's not hard to understand why.
