TLDR: Constant disconnects make it frustrating to play. There are times I disconnect 4-5 times within 15mins. I cant recommend the game based on this alone. The hope is they fix this, soon.

What would otherwise be a great game is a frustrating mess of disconnects and unacceptably long and frequent load screens. If they can fix the connection issues, I expect this game to offer a ton of fun.

When you can play, its a mix of old school Diablo titles with PoE and other great ARPG titles. Systems are intuitive and not over complicated without feeling dumbed down. They are meaningful but not overwhelming.

You can read/see all the positive takes in other reviews...the gist is this has potential to become one of the great ARPG's, if it can get past the plague of connection issues.

Ill change review to recommend if connection issues are resolved.

Otherwise great game but with 1...HUGE...MAJOR FLAW (in PvP).

*Bases are too weak!!!!!*

The game starts out fun and exciting. You spawn with nothing and have to find food, water and supplies while trying to fend off zombies. Along the way you find weapons and start to accumulate stuff. You may even run into some people from time to time and have great PvP fights where the winner keeps whatever the loser had (you drop what you are carrying when you die). Its all very exciting.

Then when you start to really amass some items you need to build a place to stash them. This is where the problem lies. Bases are super weak (melee with some items can take out walls after a while of hitting them, explosives take out walls ez and arent hard to find). You can spend hours collecting gear, materials, and planning your base. In the end it doesnt matter someone will easily take it.

On top of the structures being weak themselves there is basically 0 defense against attacks. Nothing protects the base for you when your not there. Theres basically barbed wire/spikes in the ground...they are easily visible and destroyed with ease.

Its unclear if wooden type doors lock (today i had 3 guys attacking me just walking in and opening them..whats the point then). I had to while fending off 3 guys replace the outside door with a wall, and remove/readd walls to get in and out to fight them off. Absurd. If your lucky someone will try and raid you while your online...almost never that lucky. If you are, its usually not just some random guy but a team of people who have been on the server longer than you.

Ive tried every "trick". Building in places far away from any place worth while going, out of sight, over the water, etc. Doesnt matter someone will find it and they will relentlessly attack it because its easy to take your stuff.

I just had about a 15min long battle vs 3 guys (1v3) where they were originally better armed than me and i killed them...but they proceeded to keep coming back, usually with nothing but what they grabbed on the way to my base. 95% of the time id kill them all. The rest of the time theyd land a lucky punch and id die. Id come back to find them easily destroying walls, opening my doors and taking my stuff (with essentially no gear of their own). After 15 minutes i realized this is "Unturned end game". Unless you have a group of people to help you defend your stuff and can harras others enough so they cant challenge you, you will be wasting you time. 3 naked guys > 1 guy with automatic assualt rifles, military grade clothing/armor, enough ammo to last forever, and a base.

If bases where fixed so that they require actual effort to raid (at least the same effort required to build them), this game would be awesome and id gladly pay the $5 to go gold. Until then ill play other games that do not require so much time put in to only lose it in seconds or minutes.
