Liftoff: FPV Drone Racing is not so much a game as it is a fairly realistic first-person drone racing simulation software. Please be aware that this is not a program for everybody. If you are used to flying remote-controlled drones and planes, everything in this game would feel more natural. If you are a gamer looking to use a standard gamepad to try to fly and race a RC drone, you might have a lot of trouble with this software.

There are fairly extensive video tutorials for beginners and more advanced level techniques. These are fairly useful, especially if you are trying to improve your skills.

There are quite a few different simulated settings, there are also different designated tracks for drone racing in each.

I am personally not a first-person drone racer, but I have a friend who is. From what I hear, this program is fairly accurate and very well simulated. To my note above about the gamepad, the joysticks on a gamepad do not have the same precision control as the rudder and throttle control rods on a real transmitter. Also the joysticks attempts to recenter would cause some control difficulties for me. I have fooled around a decent amount of time on RealFlight 7.5 and the Interlink Elite controller seems to work pretty well for this software. You can try to tweak the way the software recognizes the positions of your gamepad joysticks, but I still think this should only be a temporary fix. Because if you are going to buy this software, likely you have seen these high speed drone races and just want to try it out. Likely you have your own transmitter that you can plug into the computer for simulation purposes. But perhaps you don't have the set up, the right drone, etc. to be able to experiment with this. In that case, this program may be what you are looking for.

So I think it's easy to say that software like this should have VR support. I think the technology is there for head-motion controlled cameras for first person drone views, but I am not sure if they are used in any competitive racing yet. I know my friend's racer camera only looks forward. I am now glad that when he handed me his headset and transmitter that I told him I better not. Afterall, despite the durability of the drone body, I still didn't want to destroy a set of his props just to fiddle around with flying the thing. (Of course now I know from just how many times I have crashed these simulated drones after turning off all of the self-righting settings and go into first-person view.) The difference between watching on ground level (or a third-person follow view) and the simulated first-person view is way more dramatic than I originally anticipated.

Conclusion
Liftoff: FPV Drone Racing is a good first-person drone racing simulation software, and less so of a game. If you are looking to get into this kind of drone racing, I highly recommend this game. If you are just a routine gamer trying to experience something new, you might want to look elsewhere. If you have experience with RC flying, and you already have your own transmitter and perhaps another simulation software, give this a shot. If you are already a drone racer, I can tell you that my friend thinks this simulator is pretty good (he is a professionally sponsored racer).
