Early Access Review
Decent fast-paced climbing game, the feel of climbing quickly through the facility on three different stimulants is its strongest suit. I'll be waiting for version 1.0.

"Why does it rain?"
Most of the faults of The Watcher DLC can be summarized in this singular question. What purpose does this region serve in the story? How does it fit in with the rest? Most of my favorite parts of the Downpour DLC serve as a contrast to the existing environments of the game's world - finding additions to existing regions was exciting because they put a new spin on something familiar.
New regions generally entailed some objective, towards which you were heading. Finding them was more meaningful, because they tied directly with the story of a particular scug. Downpour's pipeyard seems like the best way of characterizing the worst parts of The Watcher - an area which exists solely to be passed through.

The lack of connection between any of the new places does allow for way more unique regions and it's not too difficult to find a couple of favorites (given the sheer amount of new maps). It was also cool to see apparently reused areas from the main game, which does make the environments more interesting by letting you theorize about their place in the story. If you (like me) couldn't help yourself from exploring every possible path in the game, knowing full well it can only loop back to the place you're currently at, then The Watcher should still be quite a fun experience.

The unfamiliarity of the new regions tends to be compared to the unfamiliarity experienced while playing the base game for the first time. However, it is not exactly the same, as in the original Rain World you didn't exactly know what you were looking for. Figuring out the objective and exploring the world became the point of the game. Everyone's played the Saint campaign - find the next point of interest or region entrance until you get them all. Your goal is (mechanically) quite clear. It's easy to get tunnel-visioned into finding the next entrance as quickly as possible, as you walk through the 3rd cold industrial region in the game. I was initially discouraged by a lack of strong motive (story-wise) that would push you towards exploring the new shiny regions.

One of the DLC's biggest strengths (besides the pretty regions) is the gameplay. It is a return to the classic Survivor formula. The mandatory gimmick fits well into the exploration-heavy gameplay (the invisibility, AS WELL AS the satisfying movement mechanic in the later karma levels).
Coupled with the added challenge of new mobs, the campaign ends up being quite fun once it gets going. Save for a few rooms, this was probably one of the least frustrating campaigns.

I doubt I'll be thinking about this one as often as I did the previous campaigns - there were probably fewer "oh ♥♥♥♥!" moments than in the base game, or even in Downpour (with the obvious exceptions). The soundtrack is a treat, as always (poop fountain best track) and the ending had the emotional impact you'd expect from a Rain World title.

Despite its flaws, The Watcher DLC is still a fun ride. 8/10.

I was already impressed by the demo's visual style, as well as its use of glitchy effects, which lead to a more confusing experience, as you end up in a completely different place and moment in the story. The grimy PS1 style allows for some interesting abstract imagery. Although the game mostly takes place within the same few rooms, the color coding used to differentiate parts of the story set in a different time and the various visual glitches make the game interesting throughout.

As I played the game, the initial horror turned into unease, as the events which transpired on the ship slowly become clearer. The characters are simple, there is a few handfuls of lines of dialogue, but the way the story unfolds left quite an impact.

It might be tough to justify spending over $10 on something that will last you no more than 3 hours, but if you enjoy a rough psychological horror game (that might be classified as a walking sim), with an emphasis on the psychological part, Mouthwashing is definitely worthwhile.

8/10

A ton of fun. I ordinarily don't play anime fighters, but Guilty Gear's plentiful defensive options and satisfying combat make me keep coming back for more.

This game isn't nearly as popular as the 4 main fighting game titles right now, but the added rollback and hype behind the upcoming sequel lead to a sudden rise in popularity, so you won't struggle too hard to find people to play with - even some new players.

Great story and some pretty good OST tracks. The acting and facial expressions can get silly at times, but the characters are likable nonetheless.

I haven't played many VNs but this one has made me want to try out more of them.
