What I liked:
  • Each character, regardless if they are a main or side character, gets plenty of screen time, background and development. Easily the best cast overall I've come across in a VN
  • The story line is planned out exceptionally well, the world the war is occurring in is explained with an incredible amount of detail. The setting is taken very seriously.
  • Outstanding presentation. Everything from the Mecha designs, cut scenes, music etc. is perfect or close to it. An insane effort from all involved.
  • Very good pacing, it never slows down too much except on the odd occasion.
  • Has a satisfying ending

What I didn't like:
  • An excessive amount of monologues. More than a few became repetitive and the pacing did suffer for it.
  • Info dumps that last close to an hour. I wouldn't call them 'boring' because the game does everything it can to make them interesting. The plans that you are given are usually referred to constantly during the missions anyway, so the amount of detail given beforehand was overkill.
  • Yuuko is too smart, her insight was beyond believable. Her actual character was fine but the writers needed to take a step back and give her more flaws in that regard. She was right about almost everything, it was difficult to take her seriously at times.
  • The MC is likeable for the most part and gets a huge amount of character development but I felt that I wasn't ever truly convinced by him. Not a bad character at all, there were just too many occasions where I wasn't really taken by him or on his side.
