Ad riddled, microtransaction filled, AI-cosmetic produced game.

Gameplay is okay at best, but is clearly catering to the COD audience. Them not fixing that despite saying they wanted to appeal to the core battlefield audience combined with the way they are monetizing this game shows that it was a bait-and-switch from the start.

Its genuinely disgusting that not only has the gaming market become this, but people brainlessly paying for it allow it.

As much as I used to love Dead by Daylight, having played it since THE FIRST DAY OF RELEASE on Xbox and for a few years now on PC, I simply cannot recommend anybody support the game, the developers, or the publisher behind the game.

BHVR has shown repeatedly, on multiple occasions, that they simply do not care about the well-being of the game or its playerbase anymore. I remember back when new chapters such as Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, or SAW were being added, and it seemed like Dead by Daylight was a true passion project for these developers.

Now, recently, after acquiring arguably the biggest license in the history of the game (the walking dead), they honored it by putting the least amount of effort into the DLC as possible, going as far to have voice lines WHERE YOU CAN HEAR THE PRODUCERS COMMENT ON THE TAKE OF SAID LINE IN GAME. Alongside this, the DLC released in a state that made the game nearly unplayable with bugs, all while the community managers of the game responded to concerned players claiming that all of these problems were non-issues. The only compensation for this period of time and absolute MASSIVE blunder of BHVR was to make a in-game icon of a graphical glitch that could've been avoided by a singular playtested session by the dev team before pushing the update to live.

Alongside this, BHVR has shown countless times that community input, even from their biggest content creators, is not significant or listened to whatsoever. During a Live Steam where BHVR invited Chandler Riggs (A walking dead actor) alongside some of the games biggest content creators, an exploit (one that had been in the game for years, and known about for years btw), made it so the game was unplayable due to multiple DDOS attacks. Despite the largest content creator in the games community having a fix for this on hand that could be deployed with literally zero effort whatsoever, BHVR made the decision to end the livestream having played ZERO actual games of Dead by Daylight.

And despite all of this, BHVR is now pushing another update that was clearly not playtested whatsoever by the developers of the game, however i shall'nt go into detail as it is still on their test servers (yes, these have existed for years, crazy how gamebreaking bugs still end up on live huh?)

BHVR has gotten to the point where they will push out updates that have not been tested, remain completely arrogant and ignore input from their community, and will probably continue to do so until the same people that complain about the game stop feeding them money with every new chapter or rift pass drop. (The people that do this are the issue with the game. Please become self aware.)

Speaking of paying for content, I cant forget to mention that every singular individual licensed character is 5 dollars USD. The strongest perks in the game are locked behind these paywalls as well. Dont expect to have a good gameplay experience despite EVERYTHING else ive mentioned if you dont plan to spend another 20-30 dollars on DLC. (There is no way to earn the licensed characters for free in game, and their perks are locked behind extremely rare RNG in the form of a rotating shop.)

It genuinely pains me to feel this way about Dead By Daylight, as I remember times where it truly felt like a passion project by a development team that genuinely loves horror as much as I do. That game is dead.

Remember to give the game labor of love!!!!!!111!!!111one

TLDR: BHVR have gone from a team of passionate people to arrogant, money hungry, and an incompetent development team. Dont waste your money.
