I'm only one mission on on hard mode, but I can already say this is an all-timer for P*. Ninja Gaiden has not felt this good in years.

I'm writing a negative review because Dice is breaking the promise of including only "grounded" skins into the game. Let me be clear, the community does not want brightly colored skins in the game. We do not want crossovers or other third party content either.

Look, it's a decent game to fly around and shoot stuff, but once you understand the gameplay loop it becomes very stale. The supposedly fixed powerplay system is still convoluted, messy, and 100% requires outside resources to have any chance of understanding or doing.

Generally speaking I love this game, but I have a few very major annoyances I want to highlight.

First off you'd think this is a mobile live service game with how obnoxious the progression system is. It's incredibly annoying how much time the game expects you to repeat the same missions over and over to unlock cosmetics. By the time you unlock what you're after, you'll be sick of the game and won't want to even use the things you put the grind in for. The most recent update made this issue even worse by putting in a prestige system that has both cosmetics and POWER locked behind it. This prestige system has multiple ranks, you have to rebuy any abilities you want all over again multiple times for each time you prestige.

Point number two. It's totally unacceptable and ridiculous that the paid DLC cosmetics have to be earned with in-game currency ON TOP of paying real money. I can not think of a single game that has done anything that asinine before and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills that no one else has an issue with this.

My feeling have not changed since I last played, only gotten worse. The new weekly difficulty modes make it seem like they're tuned for max prestige characters, which is something they said they would not do, or at worst they're just wildly over tuned in general. You still have to unlock real money cosmetics with in-game currency too. On top of that they've introduced another in-game currency to add to the already convoluted and obnoxious progression systems.

Bottom line, this is a terrible long term game for investment. It's great if you just wanna go through the story and the co-op missions a couple of times. Buy it on sale only.
