Currently the game is being bombarded with negative reviews for the (much needed) recent balance changes. My advice: don't listen to them. Lots of people found crutches in the game that allowed them to play at a lot higher difficulty than they were ready for, and it became the meta. When those obviously overpowered metas got nerfed, their bubble burst and are complaining they can't complete anything now.

Here's my experience: When I saw the railgun, breaker, and bubble shield, I knew they were in a different bracket from every other item, and so I strayed away from them, going for more niche items like the dominator rifle, which is a massive rifle that fires jet propelled heavy rounds. I've had a ton of fun in my game and have been playing at the highest difficulties available with my friends all using non-meta loadouts, and have only failed 5 operations since the game released.

The game is as fun as you are willing to make it, and if you try and attach yourself to the meta, you'll be very disappointed when you are required to use anything other than it, or if your team needs you to fill a different role.

I think this is the most exhilarating, terrifying, and funny game I have ever played. Everything in the game was designed to be fun, from the goofy horns and running animations, the boombox, or the installable toilet, there's so many things that were just clearly put in for the players to just have fun with. The atmospheric proxy chat is also just the icing on the cake, it really drives the experience and how funny or terrifying it can be at any moment.

I regret not refunding this game while I had the chance. I gave this the benefit of the doubt and played some with friends, but the second I don't have a premade lobby, I can't find any other players. Their first week of launch has been nothing but them tweeting out about server maintenance, and then killing the servers for 3 hours only to make the problems worse at times. And unlike Payday 2, there's no offline mode, even solo play is connected to a server, so you can't play if their servers arent up. Aside from the critical functional issues with the game, Payday 3 feels uninspired and highly derivative of Payday 2 with no meaningful improvements aside from graphics, and most of the changes are in fact, downgrades from their previous title. Serious polishing and rework is necessary before this game will ever become a true successor.

First off, I love how much this game embraces the Starship Troopers atmosphere with the propaganda and everything. The game is a ton of fun just goofing off with tons of teammates and everyone panicking as they are facing an onslaught of bugs. The only issues I have with it is just the limited inventory and game performance during more hectic points, both of which will undoubtedly receive updates, but the core game... they nailed it and are on the right track. Stability-wise, I've experienced very few bugs or errors and only 1 crash so far with 9 hours of playing.

Performance-wise, I'm sure you already know of the horrendous performance. I often struggled to reach 50FPS with a 3090 and 5950x. Content-wise, however, this is a great game. I completed it before the most recent update which was about a week ago, but unfortunately that update made the game virtually unplayable. I now can play no longer than 30 mins at a time without it crashing, and when I spend lots of time customizing, it crashes when I exit so it never saves my changes. I might change my review later but as of right now, the most recent update has bricked the game for many members of the community (just look at discussions surrounding the DXGI_DEVICE_REMOVED error) and EA is silent about it. Wait for it to be fixed or go on sale, because chances are anyone who picks this up as it is will have their experience tarnished by a company's failure to qualify their product.

Edit: They just released the second update dedicated to bugfixes aaaand... it needs an entire 150GB of extra space to install a 4GB patch. Both updates had this problem, so if you don't have an extra 150GB, you have to fully reinstall the game.

At the time of writing, I can't really recommend this game. It has so many bugs that just break saves and stop all progress, ships randomly blowing up, their positions changing entirely and teleporting, time warp breaking thrust, and sometimes it doesn't even let you leave the VAB with a single ship. Maybe later I could say I'm enjoying it but right now a significant portion of the game is needing to troubleshoot the game itself.

I will start off with prefacing a few critiques: yes, this is a hard game to run. It does have some performance and stability issues, I have no doubt these will be ironed out soon. I also dislike that crafting was not fully ready for release or the way the store is structured (I'm fine with a cosmetic shop, but I dislike the rotating store and the bundle vs individual pricing in store).

That Being said, this is probably my favorite 40k game to date. The combat is a blast, the environmental design is amazing, and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. The core of the game and the way it plays is something that they nailed. While I do have some critiques, I am glad that we got the game we did, and that the devs clearly have a refined vision for what a 40k game should have.

Honestly an outstanding game, extremely fun and unique mechanics that are intuitive and make for some great puzzle work, all surrounded by a great storyline.

This was an outstandingly tough, fluid and fun game to play, there are very few points I reached where I felt like I hit a bug in the game, and those bugs were quite minor and didn't occur again. This game makes you think about your approach and forces you to consider every element of your surrounding at all times and was quite challenging from time to time. This is a relatively short game, but I went gung-ho for the campaign and didn't stop to grab any collectibles along the way which would have prolonged it a fair bit. But overall the level design, enemies, combat, sound design, and overall aesthetic fits the theme very well.

This game is honestly really well made and fun to play, the only downside is there's just not many players online so you end up fighting the AI most if not all of the time
