Sonic Generations is the best Sonic game we've had in years. The gameplay is fluid, the story isn't 100% awful, and the level design just feels right. In a lot of Sonic games, speed is almost punished because of obstacles they have at the end of loops or somewhere else that you need lightning fast reflexes to avoid when you are going full speed. Sonic generations almost completely does away with that. It takes the best of 2D and 3D sonic games, and combines them effortlessly. It is a sonic game, so of course, there will be glitches, and tedious sections, but it is a lot of fun. Yes, the 3D sections don't have the greatest design, and yes, they still are boost-to-win, but it is one of the most satisfying things to grind down a rail past a car at top speed. It is a load of fun, even if the story is a bit meh. I give it an 87/100, for good gameplay, (relatively) creative bosses, and bringing back the classic Sonic formula, with some new elements. It is held back by glitches and tedia, but that doesn't make it a bad game.
