New Players who never played Dark Forces, I'd not really recommend - due to the below issues. However, old school players who know about the issues, can work around them then its a competent remaster and I'd recommend it.

Dark Forces is honestly difficult to review, could I give it a positive review? A negative? Dark Forces was the first Star Wars FPS game basically, and as old school as it gets and here is the crux of the problem. Is Dark Forces actually a great FPS? That is highly debatable, the level design is incredibly bad and some of the same old issues persist because the remaster is just really a graphical overhaul and a few minor improvements such as mouse aiming, so base the review on the remaster or the whole package?

The main Issue IS the level design, it focuses less on action but more on maze like problem solving with a bit of platforming with less focus on action. The big problem is that the maze factor is not only annoying, its also buggy with some levels actually being able to bugged by completing a objective then going the wrong way and then lifts/doors getting stuck, forcing you to restart the entire level from scratch, many notorious bugs exist and have always existed so that new players to the game, will absolutely run into these.

This is honestly hard because I'd absolutely like steam to give us more options to review rather than a simple thumbs up and thumbs down, sometimes its not so cut and dry. Dark Forces Remaster is a competent remaster, that I can't really fault it because the problems with the game are all legacy issues that LucasArts never fixed and that really isn't the fault of the remaster.

The sequels are honestly much much better, but Dark Forces is still the OG in the series, bugs and issues aside.
