The best car game. it has everything; fun maps, insanely customisable cars, amazing soft body physics, cool challenges.

And with community mods, you can actually do anything. Want to drive a lawnmower around the Nordshleife, fly a plane into two towers, make the water rise? Well you can do that and much, MUCH more with the mods.

If you like cars, this game is a steal. So stop looking at the reviews and just get it.

Don't get me wrong, when everything goes right, this game is fantastic.

You slide along at ludicrous speeds, listening to an incredible soundtrack and picking up fun upgrades occasionally. You feel great. However, these moments are few and far between, and even if you get one, (with the procedurally generated maps) you can easily die multiple times to a randomly unfair map - ending your run.

I found that the story was largely uninteresting and the ending unsatisfying. There was no enjoyable final boss fight, just an easy run around a map that felt boring more than anything else. This disappointed me as I had greatly enjoyed the previous nine bosses, which were just the same three bosses with increased difficulty. I was expecting some fun new boss or maybe a combination of the other three, and was given almost nothing.

Once I'd finished the story, I still wanted to keep playing, to chase those moments of fun again. Yet I found doing so quite tedious. After beating the main story, you can replay any of the 10 shards again or play endless mode. You can use set seeds or random ones but there is no sandbox where you can pick your items or select what songs play. I felt no real reason to continue playing afterwards as it seemed like I was just replaying the same levels despite them being entirely random.

Also, pretty much all items just make the game easier, they don't really change your approach to beating each map. This ends up meaning that if you don't get any good upgrades immediately, you feel sluggish - greatly reducing your enjoyment for most of the run.

I enjoyed the rogue-lite path selecting in the shards and wish that the endless mode included it as an option, but I feel as though something's missing to make it even better.

In conclusion, I think that Haste has amazing potential, with a banger OST, great fundamental gameplay and a vibrant art style. But, ultimately, in its current state, it is a difficult sell.

very cool and pretty. however, i have encountered a couple bugs that have made me stuck and caused me to lose progress by restarting a section. otherwise this game experience is very good
