UPDATE:
Sony has reversed course on the account linking, and while this is a win for us now, there are still issues like previously banned folks who need their issues fixed. Hopefully something like this wont happen again and those affected can be compensated or at least remedied.


Original Issue (5/5/24): Negative Review

Despite not being affected by this change, I cannot stand for what's happened to hundreds of thousands of people whom have invested time and money into this game, all for it to be taken away.

The principal and overall response from how Sony managed this entire snafu has been appalling and only serves to anger its entire player base for no reason besides taking personal data from them. Data they believe is in their good hands when they have suffered from security breach after security breach time and time again, no one should trust this company with their private information. I've never seen a more blatant example in the recent days (besides maybe Ubisoft) that showcases a company as an exaggerated caricature of corporate greed, but congrats Sony you've proven me wrong.

Arrowhead Studios is not blameless either to an extend, they've allowed all of this to happen through improper disclosure and lack of forethought about what it means to "only allow users who connect with PSN". On top of this, their Community Managers have shown that they're willing to go and argue with the people who made their game what it is without proper acknowledgement about why people are upset and talk about topics (SteamID/UserID) like an authority figure when in reality what they're saying is factually false. Even if they aren't a part of the company, they act as an honorary representative for them. But at least its CEO is now remorseful (debatably now that the game is being review-bombed) and is trying to find a solution with Sony about how to make the game more available to those without access to PSN. Better late than never I suppose.

It's so sad seeing how this all had to have gone down because I genuinely love this game, and I'm angered at Sony for doubling down and unwilling to treat their consumer base with respect to their intelligence, time, and money (isn't that what they really wanted overall?).

It's like that train wreck analogy except you're the conductor.
It's horribly unfun to play but holds your attention long enough to keep playing more.

Adding insult to injury, god wont hear the cries of the people and give NOED an instant uninstall buff.
