It's a while since I got pen and paper out when playing a video game, but I've made myself a cube as an aid to factory design. The evolution of the mechanics through the levels was well paced and the process control system works really well to make long chains clear when debugging.

I also really enjoyed the art style. It's clear but adds a lot flavour to the factory.

I'd highly recommend this game to anyone who already like factory and programming games or who want to get into them for fun or education.

Such a polarising game. It's not what everyone expected which makes sense since it seems there were at least 3 diverse expectations of what it would be.

It's got a good amount of polish on gameplay but the UI is very weak.

Single player is pretty boring. Decent to introduce you to units and get a chunk of XP on Elites before you get into multiplayer. However the linear maze like maps are pretty frustrating as is the waiting time if you screw up and need to wait for resources to build a large enough army to move on. You don't have to worry tho the AI won't preasure you.

The multiplayer really shines. It is dynamic and tactical like CoH, with a focus on map presence and just enough base building to call itself a real RTS. There are no wallins or a complex tech tree to memorize just a feeling of creating outposts in key places around the map to support your objective pushes. The meta is already on it's second or 3rd cycle with each race witha dominant style arising only to be shut down. It remains to be seen if it has the complexity ot develop a pro scene but RTS pro gaming is already a drop in the bucket next to MOBAs. And just to tackle that elephant in the room before I end. The multiplayer maps all use a shield > turret > Power generator (nexus) mechanic to prevent rush play. It's clearly lifted from the DOTA genre but that is wher ethe similarity ends. You control hundreds of units, you can build out into the map and there is no XP system. DoW3 has far more in common with starcraft than LoL or DOTA2.

It's worth a try if you would liek to play something that isn't Starcraft but have been continually dissapointed in the last few years titles like PA, Grey Goo and Ashes of a singularity.

Good game. Shame it's developers took a DLC model that already made it quite expensive and added microtransactions despite saying they never would.

Good expandalone content additions, combined with a year of little quality of life improvements in everything from pathing to UI makes this the best PA has been.
