Arcade driving game where you go around the city during a nuclear disaster and collect all the abandoned loot before the cops can catch you. In addition, you'll need to collect fuel, repairs, nitro, etc to keep moving. Three different characters/cars with different weapons and car stats. Each character has a voiced backstory which is dedication to the production. Unfortunately, the game is done in by floaty controls and it's frustratingly difficult to go where you actually wanted to go. With tighter controls, this could be a fun way to spend some time but, as is, it's good for a few minutes before you get tired of sliding around the streets and move along to something else.

Weird little game/experience about living with your dead family and going out on daily trips to different locations to hunt for rats in order to serve them dinner. It's a bit surreal and weird and there's a couple different endings depending on your exploration and discoveries. It's also rather short and it's not a "game" you'll be playing on a regular basis but, if you like peculiar little indie experiences then this might be worth dipping into.

Simple game play loop of "Collect 20 [items], collect [weapon], use weapon to shoot ten [predators] to release sardine friends, repeat" which is severely hampered by its poor controls. Key presses suffered from significant input lag and seemingly random effectiveness. After a couple of rounds, it was far more frustrating than fun and most deaths felt cheap and unnecessary.

Slow-paced shooter made with FPS Creator that has you rescuing hostages in what's supposed to be Syria but looks more like a low-rent tropical island. Enemies are usually single and almost never more than in pairs, combined with some poor player detection and pathfinding means killing them is trivial. Throughout the game's four levels, I was never killed and almost never in danger of being killed. There's the usual collection of weapons -- pistol, Uzi, SMG, LMG, shotgun, sniper rifle, battle rifle and RPG -- but none really stand out and the plodding nature of combat means that you'll probably just use a couple and ignore the rest. Graphics are an asset-pack grab bag and the sounds are restricted to gunshots, grunts and a swiping item pick-up sound. One bright spot if the jetpack later in the game that lets you access the high ground and snipe enemies although I had good luck before that killing enemies with a pistol while they basically ignored me. All in all, a game that works and is relative bug-free but also pretty boring and hard to recommend spending any time with.

Warrior Maiden is a game on the lower bounds of competency in that it technically works but doesn't really work well or feel polished. You're the Warrior Maiden and you wander the platformer world, whacking bad guys and solving some basic puzzles involving scooting barrels around, collecting keys and dodging hazards. The controls are a basic jump and basic attack and neither will leave you feeling impressed with sketchy hit boxes and jump timing. There's no story that I could tell, just moving ahead to the next portion. The graphics are serviceable and fine but not noteworhy. All in all, Warrior Maiden does what it says on the tin but, if you enjoy platformer adventure games, you almost certainly have better made/performing platformers to play instead of this one and I can't think of any standout feature to recommend this one with.

To be clear, I'm giving this a thumbs up as a $2 game bought at 90% off. This is NOT a $20 game by any stretch of the imagination. Fu*Topia 4 (really? Your game name breaks the comment filter?) is an FPS roguelike that has you clearing procedurally generated levels of bad guys where one hit ends your run. The game is very simple -- there's only two types of baddies, a four armed melee brute and a floating eyeball that shoots you, and the only weapon is a revolver that fires shotgun shells (not in a spread, just that the ammo icon is a shotgun shell). Enemy pathing is sketchy but that's usually to your advantage. The visuals are intentionally glitchy and grainy which works well, the sounds are fine and the game play amusing for short doses. The sort of game you'd play for ten minutes at a time just to kill a few moments.

Weirdly, the game says it's single player only on the store page but the game makes you start a server instance to play. Why? I dunno.

A tonally dissonant game that veers into both gross-out shock and Very Special Episode lessons, you find yourself unable to concentrate on a time sensitive task because of your unsatisfied libido. So, controlling the animated avatar of your genitals, you strike out into the world to have yourself some sex which obviously means some puzzle solving and mini-games and that sort of thing. From there, despite multiple people to hook up with and multiple ways to go about it, the game gets rather railroady with every partnering ending... unsatisfactory... to bring you to the Big Lesson And Talk at the end. But, by that point, you've already been expected to do enough juvenile gross nonsense that any message is lost. I wasn't even so much offended by the actions, I just don't need it to end with the developers turning a chair around to sit in it backwards and say "Ok, so lets have a talk about sex..."

The game isn't a total loss: the animation is usually well done, the stage set aesthetic is cute, there's a lot of environmental interaction and some of the situations are amusing. But then it suffers from tedious elements like getting constantly knocked around by NPCs and most of the "bad" endings are just "Then you get beaten up" which lacks in creativity after a few instances. The final product is only occasionally fun and the messaging is so muddled that I can't really recommend someone spend time or money on this one.

Charming little narrative/puzzle experience where you play a woman whose job it is to drive large monsters away from the outskirts of Bright City. Seeing as how you're one person and the last thing you'd want is an enraged kaiju tearing across the landscape, you need to find nonviolent ways to urge them to leave. The titans act as a backdrop for a larger hinted story which paradoxically suggests a future dystopia as she muses about regular lockdowns in her Bright City apartment smaller than a motel bathroom and a retro aesthetic as you toodle around the forested countryside in a rattly 1970s era sedan past old gas stations and diners. It all gels together pretty nicely, doesn't overstay its welcome and, once you accept it for the low-stakes chill game it is rather than an actual "monster hunter simulator", it's an interesting time.

Mild gripes include the controls. Jumping only seems to work when it's feeling in the mood (luckily, you only NEED to jump maybe once) and the dance of getting in and starting your car is excessively fiddly in a game where you spend a lot of time getting in and out of your car. The titans are suitably impressive but the rest of the Unity surroundings settle in at "serviceable". Sounds play a greater part between the creaking of your aged car, the hum of wind turbines and old spooky shows playing on your car's radio.

Amusing creepy walking sim about plodding down a rural road, collecting skulls (for reasons?) and getting stalked by the creepy rural road monsters rustling around you. Shining your flashlight at them freezes them, unless they're too close then your only recourse is to run with your limited stamina. Feels appropriately spooky and plenty of jump scares though the actual game play felt limited. It really feels most like a game designed to be streamed so someone can make overly dramatic "OH MY GOD" noises to their viewers when a spooky-ass crawly thing comes out of the grass at you. Made in Unity and looks like most indie Unity-based horror games which is to say serviceable but generic. I don't know if it has staying power but I got my buck's worth of spookiness and jump scares out of it so I'll give it a thumbs up.

Twin-stick shooter crossed with survival horror that never gels together well. The game is slow-paced which makes the twin stick mechanic feel out of place and almost the entire game can be easily played with the infinite-ammo pistol, making the "survival" aspects feel moot and most of your arsenal irrelevant. The story is largely incoherent and, again, feels made up of a bunch of different threads that never come together into a full plot: cultists, gene-experiments, a power station thing, a living organic "building", etc. You have zombies but then you have snakemen and machine-gun wielding skeleton soldiers and walking trees and the overall feeling was a stewpot full of "This would be cool" concepts but not enough time to cook into one dish.

There ARE some cool ideas in the game if they had picked one theme and leaned into it. And I enjoyed how environments played into the game such as traps that could hurt monsters, destructible fences leading to secret areas, accidentally destroying street lamps and plunging yourself in darkness, etc. Given more time to cook -- more action, more need for other weapons making ammo conservation a factor, a more solid story -- this could be a decent game but it's not there yet. Right now it's more lackadaisical gameplay unsupported by a story to make you want to get through it (or conversely, good enough gameplay to make you ignore the flaws in the story).
