Game had a good degree of potential, it has the nostalgic factor of the previous games, fairly better gameplay than its competition, but as should be expected, the community of mostly now man-children has continued to suffocate any ability to enjoy games without micromanaging servers with incompetent and immature admins that go around muting players arbitrarily. The game is also extremely small in scale for having announced the game 10 years ago with 3 units on either faction. I was fairly enthusiastic for this game but unsurprisingly I've once again been left disappointed by attempts to rekindle the fire that Napoleonic Wars started. Those days are gone, and its best that we just move on from it instead of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I have been a lifelong fan of SCS' 18 Wheels of Steel series and their subsequent "simulators" franchise. Overall, I think this game is pretty solid. The graphics are fantastic if you can handle them, and include a great deal of realistic aspects carried over from ETS2 which I appreciate as well as the eventual reference or item from the 18 WoS series.

While the game itself runs pretty smoothly with a decent gaming computer and the gameplay aspects are the quality we expect from SCS, the expansion (in other words, the map) and the amount of time the game is taking to expand north and west is well, unexcusable. While the game's graphics are indubitably fantastic, I cannot help but feel short changed by the time its taking to expand the map and the fact expansion DLC costs.

I can only help but hearken back to the days of old SCS, when despite their team's only slight exposure and small size milked out flawed, but memorable, and well formatted games from my childhood like Convoy and PTTM etc that came out with a host of (despite not having licenses) realistic trucks and a fantastic fully completed map.

Now, with the immense success both monetarily from ETS2 and the huge team they have gotten in the process ATS not only took longer than first imagined to release... but it was released with 2 states... Despite the fact they are both immensely detailed and their are few to no kinks in the gameplay, they have since released ONE new state, Arizona, that was thankfully free that was promised to be out "soon" at original release which ended up taking months. Not to mention, they are currently still months into the process of expanding into New Mexico... In my opinion, with a team as great as theirs they need to be less focused on lackluster "paint job" DLCs (maybe not the free ones...) and start going all systems go into expansion that should be free in compensation or do something like the "Going East!" DLC from ETS2 in which they just release a whole region at one low cost.

But other that, I recommend for being good quality SCS gaming and pretty relaxing.
