I played the first a LOT because I enjoy Rogue-like's and this one hit an interesting itch with the atmosphere it brings and the little direction it gives you which leads you to explore. That was all 2-D so it made a hell of a lot easier to understand where to go and the spots you needed to get to

Let's add a dimension but keep the art-style, which I initially enjoyed a lot and really enjoy how they employed it in this sequel. Finding things and understanding how to interact with the world has been really enjoyable and I just got off of a 2 hour run with The Captain and got so many death-rattles that I could kill one monster and the dominos would fall

It's a fun game where you can jack yourself up with needles in the thigh to shoot like a mad-man, a ukulele that is electrically imbued on your back, and the Happiest Mask you've ever seen. So much so the dead march alongside you! (Plus a bunch of others but I enjoy these a lot)

Fun Tip: Get like 2 Wax Quails and enjoy the way the physics works and fly (nearly) infinitely into the sky when you hit an angle the right way (or until the game brings you back down to the ground)

Genuinely a fun game and great to play with friends.

Solid game. It makes sense the game got a nomination.

If you feel like you want to jump into a game for a little (30 ish minutes dependent upon the powers that be), easy enough to boot up and go down the levels. I jump on casually after work and is an easy stress relief pixel by pixel deconstructing the enemies in this game.

If you want to take your sweet time and collect all the gold you can as to get the most expensive weapons, do it in the Coal Pits and enjoy the pixel manipulation. (no promises those weapons are any good tho, that's up to your imagination and the spells given)

If you want to feel like you're playing a game where you can feel as feeble as the rats/goblins that clean up the world or gain the power of the Gods to deliver uncontrollable obliteration, then pick this game up and pray that RNGesus is willing to answer your prayers.

The price also just makes it an easy purchase for hours of fun

Have you heard of how hard Dark Souls is? How, if you die, you lose all your stuff and then you have to run back and get it? LOL, that doesn't even compare. Monsters can spawn anywhere around you and they will keep spawning and spawning.. and spawning, until you prepare the teleporter. Legit, 3 bosses + 50 enemies surrounding me and still didn't find the teleporter.
If you actually enjoy a challenge and having fun with multiple friends, play this. If not, go home, stare at your computer screen and feel good about being a lame-o brain-o that enjoys the easy things in life. Me? Oh, I'll be getting my ass handed to me in this game.. and I'll enjoy every second of it :>
