Slay the Spire is straight up fun and satisfying. It is probably as close as a perfect game of its genre as one can get.

At 70 hours into any other single player game, I almost certainly would've lost interest, but with Slay the Spire I am somehow even more excited about this game. I can imagine myself playing this many years down the line.

I slept on this game for 2 years, because I had worries that I might fall into a rut that I would get with other deckbuilders where it would become more of an overwhelming chore rather than simply be fun. I thought I would get analysis paralysis, stress over what is optimal deck or move to play, maybe spend countless hours trying to look up strategies online.

Those fears were completely unfounded. Slay the Spire is the opposite of overwhelming, it is intuitive. The game seems to encourage you to discover card synergies on the fly on your own. You'll get quick feedback from the game if it doesn't work out. And when your deck comes together in that certain perfect way, you'll also know, and it is one of the most satisfying feelings. On top of that, you'll discover that you don't necessarily need to play optimally. Sometimes you'll get to the end of a run and realize the goofy fun deck you made just for kicks is actually gonna make it after all.
