So I just finished this game for the first time and already can't wait to play all over again.

Much like the original game, Before the Storm is yet another masterful rollercoaster of emotions. To me, this game isn't so much about the gameplay as it is the story and characters. Most of what I said about the original game in its review applies here too, with 1 major difference:

- No time travel this time.

That means any and all decisions you make ARE FINAL, no takebacks. That puts a ton of extra weight on you every time that dreaded "A or B?" decision comes up. That accompanying noise will haunt you btw.

The game is 3 episodes instead of 5 as the original LIS, but they felt a bit longer to compensate. I took about 3 hours per episode to finish, so thats a decent duration. Although the final episode could have used some more love (in more way than one *wink*). At this point, we are still waiting for the bonus episode, which I am very much looking forward to.

Some character voices were different compared to the first time around, supposedly a result of the union strike among voice actors (correct me if I'm wrong, I merely heard rumors about this). As a result, Chloe's voice as well as some other characters are different. However, Chloe's "stand-in" is a terrific performance and you can see her sounding a tad different because she is a few years younger in this game, so it works. Overall, not a big deal. The music is also amazing, both the licensed tracks as well as the compositions for the game.

Case and point: If you played the original and liked it at all, you should enjoy this very much. You can't tell that different developers worked on this or that its a different engine, at least I couldn't. Everything has so much attention to detail that it is simply an amazing feat.

The next paragraph is of a more personal nature, so if you just needed to know if the game is good or not, feel free to skip it and just run with what I said above.

The LIS series is something everyone should give a try. This, I feel, is one of those very few games where the hype is very much deserved. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, but in the end its something that I'm very happy to have supported and played. These characters and their adventures draw me in unlike anything (be it a movie series, TV show or literally any other piece of entertainment media) that I have ever experienced. This game is always on my mind for weeks after playing (much like the original) and even much later, it will creep its way into my mind. It had me re-evaluate how I look at life, how one's decisions affect the world and people around you. To me, it is simply a masterpiece, If I have ever seen one. I usually never cry or even get watery eyes when watching a movie or whatever, but this is so intense in both the good and the bad way that I can't help but to unleash the waterworks by the time the credits roll.

If someone asked me if video games are art, I would point them to this.

"Do you recommend this game?"

Hella yes I am.
